David Tennant narrates a behind-the-scenes look at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. In this episode, ophthalmologist Mr Scott needs all his surgical skill as he battles to remove a stubborn cataract from three-year-old Oscar’s eye. Six-year-old Kayla keeps falling over and physiotherapist Emily checks to see whether her arthritis could be affecting more of her joints. Four-year-old Jack has had a liver transplant and needs regular blood tests, but he is terrified of needles. And play specialist Maureen devises a clever plan to help Jack overcome his fear.

12-year-old William is hit by a car and rushed into A&E. The hospital’s trauma team check for potentially life-threatening injuries. Nicholas baffles medical experts with his mysterious swollen ear. Kyla has an appointment at the hospital’s Hand Therapy Service after having an extraordinary operation to remove her index finger and reposition it as a thumb. The hospital’s linen service throws open its doors to show how it copes with washing 4,000 bed sheets every month.

Toddler twins Alex and Vlad have their hearing tested to find out whether it is causing their delayed speech, and paediatric surgeon Miss Clarke performs an urgent operation to remove Maya's burst appendix.

Audiologists Vanessa and Gordon test a new hearing aid on Hannah, who has a rare genetic condition that affects her hearing. Meanwhile, six-year-old Olivia comes to the end of life-changing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, and domestic assistant Mandy shows the tricks of her trade to keep the hospital clean and safe.

A snowboarding accident leaves ten-year-old Harris with a broken arm. Orthopaedic practitioner Andy must reset the broken bones, but Harris descends into an uncontrollable fit of giggles as the hospital's laughing gas kicks in. Teenager Ewan undergoes surgery to remove growths from the surface of his bones. However, before he can return home to his video games, he must prove to physiotherapist Nina he is fit enough to walk. And speech and language therapist Sue-Anne assesses a four-week-old baby with a suspected lip tie.

In the final episode we meet one of the hospital's youngest patients, baby Sebastian. Lillie, eight, has a treatment usually associated with wrinkle removal, and while an allergy test proves troublesome, there's delight in store when Rocky the racoon arrives at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital.
