Seven celebrities battle through the wilds of Southern Africa on an uncompromising 12 day survival expedition. They are pushed to their psychological and physical limits to see who has the heroic qualities needed to become Bear’s Mission Survivor. In Bear Grylls: Mission Survive, Les Miserables actress Samantha Barks, former Coronation Street actress Michelle Collins, choreographer and Dancing on Ice judge Jason Gardiner, Casualty actress Chelsee Healey, Grantchester actor Neil Morrissey, ex England footballer and coach Stuart Pearce MBE and Arsenal and England Ladies footballer Alex Scott, are put under extreme pressure by the adventurer and survival expert to see what they are made of.

S2 E2 • Episode 2
In the second programme, the six remaining celebrities start the day without breakfast having decided to conserve their dwindling military rations. They trek to meet Bear, who delivers their first mission of the day. The group head off into the Karoo mountain range to locate a dead springbok. They need to retrieve the carcass, which has been placed high up in a tree, divide it into pieces, and each carry it in their rucksacks across a leopard crawl – two lines suspended 50ft above a rocky ravine. Anybody who fails to get across successfully, keeping hands and feet on the ropes, will have to sacrifice their meat.

S2 E3 • Episode 3
In programme three the five remaining celebrities are deep in the heart of the African bush. Leaving their camp in scorching heat, they are met by Bear who reminds them that their rations are running low, and to survive they need to think smart and start living off the land. He shows them several examples of the edible flora around them – some are a vital source of sustenance, and some could kill them. Will they get it right? Or will they waste the opportunity to gain much needed strength and nourishment?

S2 E4 • Episode 4
The celebrities move from the African bush to the coastal forest, where they must learn how to adapt to their new surroundings. Bear surprises the survivors by revealing they are camped only 30 feet away from three elephants - but their delight turns to disgust when they learn their first task - how to extract drinking fluid from the animals' dung to ensure survival in dire situations. They are then tasked with their first mission - to cross a canyon with a thumping waterfall and strong fast flowing water. As they bed down later, the mood within camp is strained and arguments begin.

S2 E5 • Episode 5
fter eight days in the wild, four celebrities remain and it’s clear that the physical strain is taking its toll. The group are led to an estuary. For a survivor, this is a lifeline which means food, water and more importantly, a means of travel. It does, however, also have its dangers, and in South Africa that means Bull Sharks. The celebrities are split into two teams. Their task; to build a raft that will get them across the estuary safely. The tide is coming in and with it the risk of a shark attack increases. Time is running out. Working in pairs, will it be a case of two heads are better than one, or will heads butt? Staying calm under pressure is key, but can they keep it together?

S2 E6 • Episode 6
In episode six the three remaining celebrities fight it out to be crowned Bear’s Mission Survivor. They must also build their camp using only what the jungle provides them, eat rats for dinner and face Bear’s most extreme challenges yet. The first challenge sees the group split for the first time. Bear takes the contestants, one by one, to the top of a 300ft waterfall which they each must abseil down alone . They are not in for an easy ride.
