"Caillou and the Big Slide" - At playschool, Caillou pretends to be a mountain-climber. It comes time for a trip to the pool. There are swings there and Caillou and his friends enjoy swinging on them. Then, their teacher Ms. Martin introduces them to Mary, the lifeguard. Leo calls Caillou to come try the waterslide. Caillou comes over, but seems a bit scared by it. He climbs up the ladder, but then climbs back down. Ms. Martin tells him that there was a time when she was afraid of swinging on the swings. She suggests that he give it another try. Caillou imagines that he is rafting down a mountain. He gives it a go and finds that he enjoys the waterslide. "Caillou the Sailor" - Mommy and Daddy are all dressed up and going out for a party. They tell Caillou and Rosie that Grandpa coming over to babysit and bringing a surprise. Grandpa arrives, carrying a bag. However, when Caillou asks what's in it, Grandpa quips that it's his dirty socks and asks Caillou if he can wash them. Caillou calls him on this and he admits that it is the surprise --- a book about ships and sailing and a small telescope. Caillou has fun looking through the telescope, but Rosie has trouble closing just one eye to look through it. Grandpa reads a story from the book and suggests that Caillou and Rosie can be his crew. There's a storm outside, but Grandpa works the sound of the thunder into the game. Rosie starts to get tired and Grandpa puts her to bed. Caillou fantasizes about being the captain of a ship. Mommy and Daddy arrive home and Caillou shows Daddy the telescope. Grandpa then puts Caillou to bed and "Captain" Caillou says that he's not afraid of thunder anymore. "Caillou and the Creepy Crawlies" - Caillou and Rosie are playing in the living room and Gilbert is there, too. He spots a spider and starts playing with it. Rosie notices this and says that the spider is yucky. Caillou tries to tell her that it isn't, mentioning that he learned all about bugs in playschool. Mommy suggests that they have a picnic outside and Caillou can draw some pictures of bugs and teach Rosie all about them. At first, it doesn't work, but then a ladybug lands on Rosie and she thinks it's kind of pretty. Caillou then shows her ants, noting that his teacher, Ms. Martin, read the class about all of the different jobs that ants have. He shows her a caterpillar and then a butterfly, and Rosie happily states that she likes the "flutterby." Caillou imagines that he's as small as a bug and that Rosie is flying high in the air on a "flutterby." Back in the real world, it would seem that Caillou has in fact taught Rosie to like bugs.

Caillou l'explorateur

S4 E2 Caillou l'explorateur

Caillou, Daddy and the twins Jason and Jeffrey pretend to visit the Antarctic; Caillou gets to know a new girl named Lee Wuhn; during a family trip, Caillou imagines hunting for alligators in a bayou. "Caillou of the Antartic" - Caillou is outside playing with the twins Jason and Jeffrey. The twins play rather energetically and Jeffrey accidentally falls over on Caillou. It gives Caillou a bit of a headache and he's somewhat upset with Jeffrey, though Daddy tells him that these sorts of accidents can happen when you're playing. Still, Caillou feels that maybe Jeffrey could have been more careful. Just then, the ice cream man shows up on a bike. He sells "Antarctic" desserts, such as Chocolate Icebergs, which gives Daddy an opportunity to tell Caillou, Jason and Jeffrey all about the South Pole. Jeffrey says that's where Santa lives, but Daddy clarifies that Santa is at the North Pole, the Arctic. The Antarctic, or South Pole is at the bottom of the Earth and that's where penguins live. Caillou imagines that he's at the South Pole, eating a "Chocolate Icecreamberg." Caillou then comments on how "cold" he is and Daddy jokes that he must not want to use the sprinkler then. Caillou says he was only pretending. Daddy eventually relents and Caillou has some fun in the sprinkler. Caillou then accidentally steps on Jeffrey's foot. He asks if Jeffrey's all right, and apologizes. Jeffrey says that he's okay and Caillou realizes that he's no longer mad at Jeffrey for falling on him. "Deep Sea Caillou" - Caillou and his friends are at playschool, playing tag and each pretending to be a different type of animal. Just then, a new girl and her mother appear. Caillou greets the new girl and invites her to join in the tag game. However, it seems that she's a bit shy. Inside the classroom, the teacher Ms. Martin introduces the new girl as Lee Wuhn. She also shows the class something else new --- an aquarium that the elementary school donated because they just got a new one. Ms. Martin notes that she herself isn't familiar with all the fish in the aquarium and so she's going to bring in a book about fish. Meanwhile, she says that the fish will need to be fed every day and Caillou is the first to get to do the job. So Caillou feeds the fish, but then it looks to him like the fish are still hungry, so he gives them some more food. He then imagines that he's swimming around in the aquarium. Lee Wuhn shows up and tells Caillou that's he's given the fish too much food. She scoops some out, explaining that while the fish may look like they're hungry, it really isn't a good idea to give them too much food. She also has him clean out the algae. She tells him that she has an aquarium at home with snails that feed on the algae. She says that she'll bring some in to help out with the school aquarium. Caillou asks if she ever pretends that she' s in the aquarium and she points out a swordfish and says that sometimes she pretends she's riding on its tail. Ms. Martin notices her talking about the fish and pretty soon, she's telling the entire class about them. "Caillou in the Bayou" - Caillou, Mommy, Daddy and Rosie are on a car trip to a lake in the country. Caillou is noticing the signs on the road. He notices a deer-crossing sign, but wonders when they'll be getting to the lake. He spots another sign that looks like it could the be the turn for the lake. Daddy admits that he isn't sure if it is or not, but decides to give it a try. They do in fact find a picnic area, but when Caillou and Rosie head for the lake, it turns out to be more of a swamp, or rather, a bayou. Caillou doesn't think much of the bayou at first, but then Daddy and Mommy start pointing out some interesting things, such as cat-tail grass, dragonflies, tadpoles, and bullfrogs. There are also mosquitoes, but Mommy has bug-repellant. Caillou decides that the bayou is in fact interesting and that he'd like to stay and explore it. Mommy and Daddy agree. Caillou is given binoculars and he pretends that he's an explorer in a huge swamp in the jungle. He even imagines that there's alligators there. Back at the bayou, Mommy spots a blue heron hunting for fish. However, despite the bug-repellant, Daddy is getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes, so it's time to go. Mommy and Daddy say that Caillou and Rosie will have to clean up when they get home because they're covered in mud. But it turns out that the lake is nearby, so they go there and get cleaned off instead. It turns out everyone got bit to some degree by the mosquitoes, but they all had fun.

Caillou the Sports Star

S4 E3 Caillou the Sports Star

Caillou wants to win a ribbon; Caillou realizes he's becoming stronger; Caillou tries to ride his bike without training wheels. "Everyone's Best" - Caillou, Leo and Rosie are all outside playing when Clementine shows up wearing a red ribbon. She explains that it was for swimming and Leo shows off a blue one that he won for being the best runner at his Dad's office picnic. Caillou comments to himself that he wishes he could win a ribbon like Clementine's. Grandma notices this and so she goes inside to find some ribbons. She announces that she's hosting games. Rosie asks to join in too and everyone agrees. Grandma's first game is to walk heel-to-toe. Clementine wins this one. then, Grandma holds a contest for the biggest smile. This time, Leo is the winner. Caillou starts to become a bit upset, because he really wants to win a ribbon. Mommy reminds him that games are supposed to be fun. Caillou thinks about this for a bit and agrees, deciding to take part in the next game. This time, Grandma asks everyone to do a silly walk. This time Rosie wins --- in fact, Caillou declares her to be the winner, since her walk is obviously the silliest. Next, they have an obstacle course. Caillou imagines that he's in a real race with an announcer and a crowd. He doesn't win this one either, but he's really having fun. Grandma has one last game. This one is a no smiling contest. The objective is to not smile or laugh or at all, no matter what sort of funny things Grandma does. Rosie is out almost immediately, but Grandma has her join in trying to amuse the others. Caillou lasts the longest and finally wins a ribbon. "Stronger Every Day" - Caillou and his family are having a picnic at the park and Leo has joined them also. Caillou offers to bring a picnic basket over to the blanket, but it's a bit too big for him. He's a bit upset about this, but he and Leo decide to go play on the monkey bars before lunch. they have fun swinging on the monkey bars, but then they notice a man installing an entirely new set of monkey bars. This improved set has eight bars instead of four. Caillou and Leo try them out, but Caillou can only climb four bars, while Leo can only climb five. Caillou imagines he's swinging on vines in the jungle, but he isn't too happy that he can only climb four bars. Daddy notes that on the old set, that would have been the entire thing. Caillou wonders how he can get stronger and Daddy tells him the secret is to have lunch and eat healthy foods. It's also to play and get plenty of rest. Caillou fantasizes that he's grown strong enough to lift a large set of barbells. Later, Caillou and Leo see Clementine riding her bike with Billy. Clementine's chain gets loose and Billy has to do some lifting of the bike to fix it. Caillou notes that Billy is strong, but he finds that he's able to lift the bike some too. Billy notes that Caillou couldn't do that last year. It seems that Caillou is getting stronger after all. "No More Training Wheels" - Caillou is out on a bike path with Sarah and his Daddy. He's having a lot of trouble keeping up and is upset that his training wheels are slowing him down. He asks if it would be possible to have them taken off and Daddy agrees, once they're done with the bike ride. Caillou imagines that he's biking in a race. They get home and the training wheels come off. Caillou tries and tries to ride without the training wheels on, but he just can't seem to get the hang of it. He heads inside and Mommy asks him to help Rosie put her shoes on. He tries, but Rosie insists on putting them on herself. Unfortunately, they end up on the wrong feet. Caillou decides that just like Rosie isn't ready to put her shoes on by herself yet, he's not ready to ride his bike without training wheels yet. Daddy agrees, saying that there's a proper time for everything.

Caillou the Musician

S4 E4 Caillou the Musician

Caillou and Clementine try to prove to her older brother Billy that they can play the drums; Caillou and his classmates at playschool put together a marching band; Caillou helps Clementine in a talent contest. "Caillou Plays the Drums" - Caillou is over at Clementine's house playing dress-up. Suddenly, he hears a loud banging sound. Clementine explains that it's her brother Billy playing the drums. She and Caillou head over to his room to check it out. Billy explains to Caillou that he's learning how to play the drums so he can be in a rock band. Caillou notices pictures of rockers on the wall of Billy's room and comments on their funny clothing. Billy, though, doesn't think the clothes are funny, but Clementine admits to Caillou that she finds them funny too. They ask Billy if it would be possible for them to try out the drums. He says that they can't --- they're too little, and drums are for grown-ups, not for little children. Caillou and Clementine aren't happy with this dismissal. They don't think they're that little and they decide that they need to do something to show Billy that they're old enough to play the drums. They decide to make Billy a snack. They get him a sandwich and milk and Clementine has her Mom cut the crusts off the bread, as she knows Billy doesn't like them. They take the snack to Billy. He thanks them for it, but still won't let them play the drums. Their next idea is to dress up as adults, using clothing from Clementine's dress-up chest. Billy, naturally, doesn't believe that they're actually grown-ups, but, apparently amused, he does give in. Clementine says that Caillou can go first, since dressing up was his idea. Billy shows him three different types of drums ---a bass drum, a snare drum and a cymbal. Caillou really enjoys the sound of the cymbal. He fantasizes that he's playing on-stage as part of a real rock band. Mommy arrives to pick Caillou up. He's still dressed in his "grown-up" clothes and tells her that he's all grown-up. Mommy says that if he is, then he must not want to go play on the swings at the park. Caillou says that he's only pretending --- after all, he wouldn't want to miss out on the swings. "Caillou's Marching Band" - Caillou is at playschool, playing a game of tag with his friends outside. Just then, he hears a marching band playing. Ms. Martin says that they must be practicing for the upcoming parade. Caillou is fascinated by the marching band and finds that the music makes him want to march too. Emma, however, thinks that the music is too loud. Caillou decides to lead a march back inside the classroom, but finds that his classmates are out of step. Ms. Martin suggests that he slowly do a count --- 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4. As they enter the classroom, they continue the march, saying they're not going to stop. Caillou wishes that they could have a real marching band and so Ms. Martin suggests they look for things in the classroom that they could use to make instruments. So they gather up materials, but Caillou finds that Emma is instead drawing a star. Since she's not really into the loud music, she's decided she'll help by making hats for everyone. Finally, the band is put together, but it doesn't sound very good at first. Caillou once again leads the band with the 1 2 3 4 and pretty soon he has it together. Caillou imagines that he's marching down the city streets in a parade, complete with elephants. Emma is in the parade too, but she's wearing headphones. Back at the playschool, the march heads outside, where the parents are waiting to pick the kids up. They tell them not to stop and so they get to enjoy the march. "Caillou Sings" - At playschool, Caillou offers to help with the cleanup at snacktime. Ms. Martin announces that at the end of class that day, there's going to be a talent show. Caillou decides that he's going to sing a song, but before he's asked what he wants to do, Clementine says the same thing. Caillou complains that he wanted to sing and Ms. Martin says that they both sing. Next, Caillou wants to sing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm," but once again, Clementine says it before he can. Ms. Martin suggests that Caillou sing "Ring Around the Rosie" and he agrees to this, although he's getting a bit annoyed by Clementine picking his choices before he can say them. They all go outside to play and Leo tells Caillou that he's planning to recite a rhyme. The problem is that he can remember the beginnings to lots of rhymes, but not the endings. Caillou tries to practice his song, but it really isn't working. It's Rosie's favorite song, but he feels like it's a little kid's song and so he doesn't want to sing it. Meanwhile, Clementine is having trouble remembering the words to "Old MacDonald." Caillou, no longer irritated with her, offers to help her out and suggests that they do a duet. They head back inside and have naptime and Caillou imagines himself singing on-stage. Later on, Clementine still can't get the hang of the song, so Caillou gets a new idea --- they'll take turns, and Caillou will sing the parts that she can't remember. It comes time for the talent show and together, Caillou and Clementine do well with the song. As for Leo, he creates a rhyme of his own.

Caillou the Detective

S4 E6 Caillou the Detective

Caillou searches for Gilbert; Caillou loses his new toy car; Caillou pretends to play hide-and-seek in the jungle. "Where's Gilbert?" - Caillou is outside playing with Gilbert and Grandpa is there, supervising. Caillou tries to get Grandpa involved in the game, which involves Gilbert batting a piece of string, but Gilbert ignores it and walks away. Grandpa comments that Gilbert must have decided that the game is over. At first, Caillou is a bit upset by this, but then he gets a new idea --- he'll pretend to be Gilbert. Just then, Gilbert shows up again, but now Caillou's annoyed because he's interrupting his pretend game. Caillou and Grandpa decide to go inside for lemonade. Caillou notices that Gilbert's water and food dish is running a bit low, so he fills it back up. Once they go back out, Grandpa takes a nap. That night, Caillou notices that Gilbert hasn't touched his food. He calls for Gilbert, but Gilbert doesn't show up. Daddy goes outside to check for him, but he's nowhere to be found. The next morning, he still isn't back. Everyone searches outside for him and Caillou hears a meowing sound, but it turns out that it's actually Sarah's cat, Ollie. Daddy and Caillou head over to the animal shelter, thinking he might be there. He meets a parrot named Bernie who can imitate the sound of a bell and just about anything he hears. Seeing the parrot, he imagines having a different animal as a pet. After thinking about what it would be like to have an elephant, a skunk, or a kangaroo for a pet, he decides that he's quite happy with Gilbert. He and Daddy show the lady at the counter a picture of Gilbert. She notes his collar, which will make him easy to identify. She says that she doesn't have any cats like Gilbert on file, though, but they're welcome to go and check. They do, but he's not there. The lady at the counter says that she'll keep an eye out. Disappointed, they return home and find Gilbert! Caillou tells him he shouldn't stay out past his bedtime. "Where I Saw it Last" - Caillou is in the kitchen, playing with a new toy car of his underneath the table. It's a sort of hideaway spot for him. Mommy calls for him, but he doesn't come out until she reminds him that he's going to the park with Jason and Jeffrey. They meet up with Jason and Jeffrey, who it turns out both have new toy cars also. They head to the sandbox at the park, where they have a race with them. Caillou imagines that he's an actual racecar driver. Mommy then suggests that they all go for ice cream. At the ice cream, Caillou takes out his toy car and starts to play, but Mommy reminds him that he shouldn't be playing with it at the table. Everyone enjoys delicious shakes and Caillou acquires a couple of a mini-umbrellas. They all leave, but Caillou has left his toy car behind. Caillou, Jason and Jeffrey have a bit of fun at Jason and Jeffreys' house playing with their mini-umbrellas. Then, Caillou and Mommy head home. Caillou gives Daddy one of the mini-umbrellas as a present. Rosie wants one too, but Mommy says it's a bit too sharp for her to play with. Just then, Caillou realizes that he doesn't have his toy car. Mommy asks if he remembers where he had it last. Caillou recalls the things that he did and realizes that he still had the toy car with him at the ice cream place. Therefore, he must have left it there. Caillou's entire family heads to the ice cream shop --- both to find the toy car, and to get Rosie some ice cream (she heard Caillou had some and wants some too.) At the shop, Caillou finds that the toy car isn't on the bench where he left it. However, it turns out the waitress has it. She found it after he left and was hoping he'd come back. Caillou gets his toy car back and Rosie gets an ice cream cone. "Lost in the Jungle" - It's early morning and Caillou is looking for Gilbert in his room. It seems Gilbert is hiding from him, but Mommy cuts the game short, saying that it's time for him to go to playschool. Caillou, however, keeps looking for Gilbert --- it seems he's worried about him. Mommy lets him search around for Gilbert for a bit, looking for any clues that might help him. Gilbert's nowhere to be found, however, so they head off to playschool. At the school, Ms. Martin reads from a new book she got about the jungle. The kids all have fun making animal sounds and acting like various animals. Caillou imagines that he's playing hide-and-seek in the jungle. In the real-word, the class goes outside for recess. Caillou is playing hide-and-seek with Leo. He remembers Mommy's idea of finding clues and uses footprints to track Leo. Back at home, he finds Gilbert when he tracks muddy footprints from a rainstorm all throughout the house.

Caillou the Builder

S4 E7 Caillou the Builder

Caillou and his friends clean up the playshcool's playground and then decide to build a road; Caillou helps a family to build their new home; Caillou visits a skyscraper for the first time. "Caillou the Road Builder" - It's nighttime and there's a rather loud thunderstorm. Rosie is scared, but Caillou helps to comfort her. The next morning, Mommy drives Caillou to the playschool, but finds a tree blocking the route they normally take. This old oak tree is a familiar landmark, but got blown down by the storm. Caillou's going to miss the tree and so will Mommy. She tells him, however, that a new one will be planted and reminds him that trees are special and it's important to take care of them. For the time being, they take a detour to get to the school. At school, Ms. Martin has the kids help to clean up the mess on the playground from the storm. Caillou, Leo and Clementine then decide to create a road in the sandbox heading over to the swings. The road even crosses some of the puddles made by the storm. Caillou imagines that they're driving bulldozers. They even make a bridge. Just then, Clementine puts a small sapling in the way, saying it's a big old tree. Leo says that Caillou should knock it over, but Caillou remembers what his Mommy said about trees. So he has them make a detour instead. "Caillou's Building Adventure" - In the kitchen, Caillou's parents and his Grandpa are making jam sandwiches. They're going to be helping a family to build their new home. Caillou wants to come along and help, but Daddy and Grandpa aren't sure. Mommy suggests that maybe he just make a quick visit. She'll drop Rosie off at Grandma's and then drop Caillou off at the construction site. Once there, Daddy reminds Caillou that it can be dangerous, so he'll need to be careful. He introduces him to Sam --- the father of the family that'll be living there. Caillou imagines being a home builder and putting a home together in a flash. He then meets Sam's son, Franky. They leave handprints in the concrete. "A House in the Sky" - Caillou is out playing in the backyard and finds an anthill. He tries to show the ants to Rosie, but she's scared and runs away. Caillou, however, imagines that he's very small and riding on the back of an ant. Just then, Mommy takes a phone call, which turns out to be from an old friend --- Carol from high school. Caillou talks to Daddy about the ants and Daddy says that while some ants can bite, the ones in their backyard are safe. Rosie lets one of them crawl up her arm --- it tickles. Mommy decides to visit Carol and it seems she has a four-year-old son named Kevin. It's a long car ride to Carol's, resulting in several "are we there yet" from Caillou. They eventually make it, though. Kevin and Carol live in a skyscraper and Caillou has never been up that high before. He meets Kevin and asks if they can play in his backyard, but Kevin doesn't have one. So they play inside and make a skyscraper out of blocks. It comes time to leave and Caillou asks if Kevin can come to visit sometimes. Mommy agrees and Caillou suggests to Kevin that he pack a lot of books, because it's a long trip.

Caillou the Snowman

S4 E8 Caillou the Snowman

Snowflakes: Caillou eagerly awaits the first snowfall of winter, and imagines himself building the biggest snowman in the world. When the snowflakes finally start to fall he rushes outside to play. He and Sarah take a close look at some snowflakes, and then go inside to make their own snowflakes out of paper. Caillou Shoots! He Scores! : Caillou wants to play hockey with Billy and the other big kids. He goes with Daddy to the store to get the equipment he needs, but he finds he just can’t keep up with the big kids. After Daddy gives Caillou his old hockey sweater - which is way too big for Caillou - he tells him that if he keeps practicing he’ll be really good by the time he grows into the sweater. Caillou goes to Leo’s house to practice his hockey skills and dream about the future. Tobogganing: Mommy can’t find Caillou’s toboggan for the playschool tobogganing trip and Caillou is certain he’ll miss out on all the fun. Miss Martin tells him that a cardboard box slides just as well as a toboggan on snow, so he decorates a box to look just like a bobsled. Once they get to the hill his bobsled box works just as well as all the other kids’ toboggans and he has a grand time after all.

Caillou the Magnificent

S4 E9 Caillou the Magnificent

Caillou searches for the perfect choice for show-and-tell; Caillou's magic act is hindered by Gilbert; Mommy and Daddy join in Caillou and Rosie's game of make-believe. "Show and Tell" - Arts and crafts time is wrapping up at Caillou's playshcool. Caillou paints a car; Leo paints an igloo; and Clementine paints a field of flowers. Ms. Martin announces that tomorrow they're having show-and-tell. Caillou asks what it is and she explains that they can bring in anything they want --- something special that they like to surrpise the class. Both Leo and Clementine quickly come up with ideas, but don't tell Caillou, saying that they're secret. Caillou, however, is not sure. When he gets home, he considers bringing his toy dinosaur, Rexy. Rosie likes this idea, but he doesn't think that he wants to take him. All his friends generally already know about Rexy. He imagines what it would be like if Rexy were a real dinosaur. It would be a big surprise --- they could slide down his back and he would generally be a lot of fun. Mommy comes in and asks what they're doing. Caillou explains about the show-and-tell and Mommy suggests coming up with a few ideas and presenting them after dinner. So Caillou selects three things --- Rexy, his toy firetruck and a kite, but he's still not sure. Mommy has him sleep on it, but he still doesn't have an idea by morning. As he notices how Rosie keeps yelling "surprise!" though, he gets a great idea. When it comes time for the show-and-tell, Caillou has made his choice --- it's his little sister, Rosie! "Caillou the Magician" - Grandma is babysitting Caillou and Rosie. They're having a lot of fun --- she shows Caillou how to make a funny sound by letting the air out of a balloon. Next, they come up with the idea to do magic tricks. Caillou wants to put on a magic show with Rosie. With Grandma's help, he searches the house to find a magic wand and a cape. He thinks he's good to go, but there's one more thing --- a magic hat. Grandma lends him the top hat that Daddy wore when he married Mommy. Caillou decides that for his magic act, he wants to make Rosie disappear. He tries the trick and almost pulls it off, but Gilbert gets in the way. When it comes time to actually do the trick, Caillou's worried that he's had far too little practice. He imagines that he's a real magician putting on a big act --- making all sorts of animals appear and disappear. The actual trick goes well, however, but then he realizes that he hasn't practiced making Rosie reappear. He gives it a shot and it's Gilbert that appears instead. Fortunately, Rosie soon follows and Caillou's on to his next trick --- making his snack "disappear." "Caillou's Castle" - Caillou is trying to play castles and dragons with Teddy and Gilbert, but it isn't going too well. Gilbert doesn't really seem interested in playing and scampers away. Caillou asks Mommy if she's seen him, but he hasn't. He finds Gilbert, but Gilbert's still not interested in playing. He goes to find Rosie instead. At first, Rosie's a bit scared by the idea of dragons, but with some reassurance from Caillou, she's up for the game. Caillou decides to dress up as Prince Caillou and Rosie becomes Princess Rosie. While Caillou searches for some princely clothes, Daddy helps Rosie to get dressed. They begin their game and imagine that they're in an actual castle. The dragon is blocking the exit to the castle, dozing away. Caillou tickles him to wake him up and so he goes to find another napping spot. The dragon is actually Gilbert, back for the game, but way to sleepy to be a suitable dragon. So Mommy and Daddy show up to play dragons instead.

Caillou the Scientist

S4 E10 Caillou the Scientist

Caillou learns about magnets; Caillou finds out about dinosaurs in a museum; Caillou pretends to explore the stars. "Magnet Madness" - Caillou is in the kitchen, where he's just finished drawing a picture. It features himself and Clementine on the swings. Mommy compliments the pictures and says that he should hang it on the refrigerator. Caillou heads to the refrigerator and puts a magnet on it. He's delighted at the almost magical way that the magnet flies out of his hand. Mommy tells him that magnets stick to lots of things. He grabs up a few magnets so that he can test out some things to stick them too. He finds that they stick to some of toys, but won't stick to Gilbert or Rosie. Nevertheless, he gives the "R" magnet to Rosie to play with, since it's the first letter of her name. He also tries to play with Gilbert, but Gilbert's not interested. He finds his Daddy hard at work on on a birdhouse. One of the magnets sticks to his workbench and he explains that it's because it's made of metal. He tells Caillou that magnets only stick to things made of metal. Caillou decides to get a whole bunch more magnets in hope of finding new things to stick them too. He removes the entire alphabet of magnets from the refrigerator and sticks them on things all around the house. He notes that they can stick upside-down and imagines that he's a superhero named "Magnet Man." Mommy finds him and tells him that it's time to put the magnets back. He searches all over the house to find all the different places he puts the magnets. He comes upon Daddy again and asks if he can help with building the birdhouse. Daddy agrees, but just then, he drops a hook needed to hang the birdhouse. Caillou tries using one of the magnets to retrieve it, but it just won't reach. Daddy suggests tying a string around it to extend the reach, and this works. Caillou is pleased that he was able to help Daddy. That night at bedtime, Mommy finds the last missing magnet, the letter "Z," stuck to Caillou's lamp. It's time for bed, but first Caillou runs out and grabs onto Daddy's leg. He says that he's "Magnet Man." "Caillou the Dinosaur Hunter" - It's morning, but Caillou doesn't want to wake up. Rosie's efforts to get him out of bed seem to be in vain until she pulls out Rexy. This reminds him that they're visiting a museum filled with dinosaur fossils that day. Just before they drive off, Caillou remembers Rexy and decides that if he's going to a dinosaur museum, he shouldn't leave without Rexy. At the museum, Mommy suggests that Caillou leave Rexy in the car, or else he might lose him. Caillou promises to take care of him. In the museum, Caillou asks why there's only bones. Mommy explains that's all there's left of the dinosaurs. Caillou sees the bones of a Tyrannosaurus Rex --- the same type of dinosaur that Rexy is. He's also impressed by the bones of a flying dinosaur, a pterodactyl. He imagines flying on the back of a pterodactyl. Then, he suddenly finds himself alone. He knows what to do, though --- he stays put. Just then, a museum guard shows up. Caillou knows that normally you shouldn't talk to strangers, but he knows it's okay to talk to a museum employee. He explains that the got separated from his parents. The museum guard praises him for staying put and soon Mommy shows up. They continue on their way, but this time, Caillou leaves Rexy behind. Caillou and Rosie enjoy seeing the rest of the dinosaur fossils, and also a fossil of something that wasn't a dinosaur --- a woolly mammoth. It comes time to leave and Caillou realizes that he's missing Rexy. He and Daddy first check the lost-and-found, but Rexy isn't there. They search all over the museum, but come up empty. Finally, they come across the guard once again. It turns out that she found Rexy --- he stayed put just Caillou did. "Caillou the Astronaut" - It's outside playtime at Caillou's playschool and Caillou and Clementine are pretending to be Mama Bear and Papa Bear from Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Just then, Xavier shows up with a new toy rocket. It has two astronauts inside and can light up. Both Caillou and Clementine are impressed with the new toy, but want to continue their game. Caillou agrees to play with Xavier later, but asks if he'd like to join their game as Baby Bear. He doesn't and heads on his way. Back inside, Caillou sits next to both Clementine and Xavier at snacktime. Then, it comes time for a story and Xavier asks if Ms. Martin has any books about outer space. She does and she tells them all about the sun, the planets and astronauts. Caillou imagines that he's an astronaut, traveling on a spaceship to all the different planets. It's time to go outside again and Xavier offers to let Clementine join in the outer space game, but she still wants to play bears with Caillou. Ms. Martin suggests that maybe there's some way they could combine the two games. This gives Caillou an idea and he asks Ms. Martin if there are any bears on other planets. Ms. Martin admits that it's a possibility. So Caillou comes up with a game where Clementine is a bear on "Bear Planet."

Caillou the Artist

S4 E12 Caillou the Artist

Caillou makes a picture for Mommy; the twins Jeffrey and Jason make a creative pizza; Caillou makes a painting for Grandma. "A Present for Mommy" - It's a wintry morning following a big snowstorm. Caillou and Mommy are already off to a late start and Mommy can't find her car keys. Caillou manages to find them, though --- they're in a boot! They go outside for going to playschool, but they can't see the car. The car is buried in snow and they have to dig the car out. They finally get things all shoveled, but then the car won't start. Mommy's a bit flustered, but decides to have Grandpa drive Caillou to playschool with their car. They make it there safely. They're doing crafts at playschool. Caillou imagines some things he could make to brighten Mommy's day. He imagines making a fan to blow away snow, the warmest coat in the world and a huge sun to melt the snow. He decides to make a clay sun. The sun gets messed up, but he's able to fix it. Ms. Martin bakes the clay sun and it ends up breaking in two, but they're able to fix that too. Next, Caillou colors the clay sun yellow and gives it a smiley face. Then, Clementine accidentally splashes some blue paint on it. At first, Caillou is upset, but then Leo points it that it looks like sunglasses. Caillou agrees and does some more painting to finalize the design. Back at home, Mommy is cheered up by Caillou's sun. She and Grandpa hang it up to use as a hanger for keys. "Caillou the Chef" - It's morning and Caillou is excited because Jason and Jeffrey are coming over to play. They're also staying for lunch. It turns out that Mommy has set up a special surprise for lunch --- "make your own pizzas." Caillou helps out by washing the mushrooms. Jason and Jeffrey arrive. They have some pretty weird lunch ideas, but Caillou explains that they're making pizzas. He's helped Mommy with this in the kitchen before, so he gives them some tips. Just then, Daddy shows up and mentions that he once worked in a pizzeria. Unfortunately, he isn't much help --- he ends up getting the pizza dough on his head and leaves unceremoniously. The kids continue with making their pizzas and Caillou is somewhat annoyed by the odd ingredients that Jason and Jeffrey are choosing --- such as carrots or broccoli. Nevertheless, they plow on. Caillou imagines being a real chef. He ends up dropping the pizza dough on his head, just like Daddy. Mommy puts the pizzas in the oven and while they bake, the kids play a pretend game of cooking. When the pizzas finally finish, they share and enjoy them all. "Caillou the Painter" - Caillou is helping Mommy with the laundry. He's matching the socks and it turns out that there's an extra. It's not lost, though --- Mommy manages to find it inside the washer. She also finds that the paint-stain in one of Daddy's shirts didn't come out. She's going to throw it away, but Caillou asks if he can have it. Mommy agrees. Later, Daddy spots him wearing it and comments that it's a good paint shirt. As it turns out, Grandma is coming over, so Caillou decides to paint a picture for her. Meanwhile, Rosie decides to pick a flower. Caillou gets to work, but has trouble deciding what to paint. First, he tries painting a picture of Gilbert. It isn't really what he wants, though. He also tries one of Rosie, but still hasn't got what he wants. Mommy suggests painting a tree, but Caillou wants something with lots of colors. Mommy tells him he can make an abstract painting. She explains that it's a painting with shapes and anything he likes. Caillou imagines painting all sorts of shapes on a huge canvas. His painting goes well and he finds that the shirt is now all messy. It's okay, though --- after all, it's no big deal if a paint shirt gets messy. As everyone heads inside, Gilbert tips over the paint brushes. Back inside, Rosie ends up dropping her flower on the floor. It seems like it's ruined, but Grandma presses it, saving it. She sticks on the fridge, with Caillou's painting. Just then, Gilbert comes in --- the newest work of art!

Caillou Loves the Fall

S4 E14 Caillou Loves the Fall

Caillou helps Sarah during a shopping trip; the kids in Caillou's playschool go on a field trip to an apple orchard; Caillou has trouble deciding on a costume for Halloween. "Caillou Goes Shopping" - Caillou is acting silly, trying to amuse his sister Rosie. It's working pretty well, too. He imagines that he's an actual clown, with a performing seal named Sammy. Next, he decides to draw a picture of a clown for Rosie. At first, he can't find the red crayon. He finally finds it, but it's really worn down and stubby. In fact, all of Caillou's crayons are getting to be like that. Mommy agrees that it's time to go shopping. They go on their shopping trip and Caillou asks if they're going to be buying anything else at the store. Mommy says that they are --- they also need toilet paper, lightbulbs and new socks for Rosie. Mommy wonders if Caillou can remember all that. At first, he has trouble with it, so Mommy suggests making a song out of it. Caillou does this and soon has the shopping list memorized. He's able to recall it perfectly once they're at the store. He helps Mommy to find everything they need, but is a bit disappointed that they're done with their shopping because now there's nothing else to look for. Just then, though, he spots Sarah. She has a list of school supplies, so Caillou asks if he can help her find them. She agrees and Caillou quickly finds everything, even counting the five notebooks that she needs. On the way home, Rosie does a little clowning of her home by wearing her new socks on her ears. "Caillou Goes Apple Picking" - Caillou's entire playschool class is going on a field trip to an apple orchard. Caillou enjoys riding the bus there. Once they get there, they have some fun finding colored leaves. Miss Martin shows them that apples have different colors too and the colors can indicate if they're ready to be eaten. The kids have a taste test and agree that they like bright red Mcintosh apples the best. Next, they go on a hayride. Once they reach the destination, they pair off for apple picking. Caillou pairs with Leo and together they compete with Clementine and her partner to pick the most apples. Caillou wants to reach an apple way up-high. He asks for a ladder, but gets a step stool. He imagines reaching for a huge apple in a really tall tree. They race for picking the apples ends up being a tie. Next, they head for a barn, where they talk about some of their favorite apple foods with one of the orchard workers, Eric. Caillou happens to be a purist --- he likes apples just the way they are. "Caillou's Halloween Costume" - Halloween is just around the corner, but Caillou doesn't yet have a Halloween costume. Seeing a bed sheet gives him an idea --- he could be a ghost. Caillou explains to Rosie about Halloween costumes and Mommy suggests that Rosie could be a princess. Caillou, however, apparently isn't satisfied with the ghost idea, as he asks Daddy to help him find a costume. Daddy dresses Caillou in some grown-up clothes. It's a fun idea, but he can't walk around very well in it. There's still a few days left, though. Time passes and Caillou still doesn't have a costume. He decides to go down to the basement, where Daddy paints whiskers on him and makes him into a cat. This idea doesn't really work for Caillou, but it goes into Rosie's costume --- she's now become a "princess / clown / cat." Finally, Caillou stumbles upon the perfect idea for a costume --- a monster. He imagines being a scary monster and picking candy from trees. With Mommy and Daddy's help, Caillou now has a great costume, which really impresses Leo (a cowboy) and Clementine (a bumblebee.)

Caillou Outdoors!

S4 E15 Caillou Outdoors!

Caillou and Mommy plant a scarecrow; Caillou and his family go on a roadtrip to nowhere in particular; a boy with Down's Syndrome visits Caillou's playschool. "Shoo, Shoo Bird, Fly Away!" - Caillou is outside playing in the dirt. He's having a lot of fun finding things. He finds a worm and asks Mommy if he can keep it. She has him put it back, though, and instead gives him some tomato seeds to plant. He happily plants the seeds and then notices Mommy shooing away a bird. She explains that the birds are trying to eat the seeds and if they do that, they won't grow to become big plants. Caillou hopes that his tomato seeds will grow to be really big. The two go inside so that Caillou can make a sign for his tomato plants. They find that Rosie and Daddy are busy baking. Rosie seems to be doing more playing than baking and has gotten flour all over herself. Nevertheless, Daddy explains that they're baking a delicious apple pie. Caillou makes a nice sign, but when he goes back outside, the birds are eating the seeds again. Rosie bangs a couple of pots and scares them away. Mommy suggests that they build a scarecrow to keep the birds at bay. Caillou wonders what a scarecrow is and Mommy explains that they build a stick-figure that looks like a person and dress it up in funny clothes to scare off the birds. Caillou imagines that he himself is a scarecrow and scares away three progressively larger birds. They finish the scarecrow and put it up outside. Mommy notices that the birds are scared away by Rosie's banging pots and so Rosie agrees to let them become a part of the scarecrow. They then settle down to enjoy the apple pie. At first, the birds show up and don't seem at all bothered by the scarecrow. Then, the wind blows, causing Rosie's pots to bang and the birds are scared away. With the birds gone, Caillou and his family have fun talking about some of the things they can do with the huge vegetables that they're going to grow. "Caillou's Road Trip" - One morning, Daddy and Mommy take Caillou and Rosie on a road trip. To Caillou's surprise, though, they don't say where they're going --- so it may be nowhere in particular. Caillou finds it a bit odd at first, but is soon having fun with Rosie, playing games. Mommy has them play an "I Spy" game, looking for cows and various colored cars. Eventually, they reach a gas station, where they stop to fuel up and get something to eat at the station's restaurant. Caillou notices a truck and Daddy takes him over to look at it. Caillou imagines being a truck driver. He finds himself having to keep stopping for animal crossings --- first a deer crossing, then a duck crossing and then a hippo crossing! He's annoyed when instead of crossing, the hippo plops down in the middle of the road for a nap. He asks it to move, and it does. At the restaurant, Rosie sits in a high chair, but Caillou enjoys sitting in the booth and ordering from the menu, which has pictures. He orders a cheese sandwich and milk. The trip continues, and it turns out that they did have a destination --- a lake with several ferryboats. Caillou is delighted by the boats' loud horn, but it doesn't wake up Rosie, who got tired and fell asleep. Caillou gets to board the boat with Daddy and meet the captain of the boat. He learns about the boat controls and even gets to blow the boat horn. Rosie, however, sleeps through the entire thing. Caillou decides that he likes road trips with their car, especially when he doesn't know where they're going. "Caillou the Dragon Tamer" - One day, a boy named Alan shows up at Caillou's playschool. Miss Martin explains that he's just there for the day, but if he and his Mom decide that they like it, he may be attending on a regular basis. Caillou and Clementine quickly invite him to play with them over on the mechanical horsies. Caillou asks him his age and Alan tells him that he's five. Caillou tells him that he's four, but he's growing every day. After they get down with the horseys, they go to play on the swings. Alan seems to be having some trouble with the swings and Caillou wonders why --- after all, Alan is older than him. Back in the classroom, Caillou asks Miss Martin about it and Miss Martin just explains that Alan needs help with some things. Caillou figures though that there must be some things that he's good at. The class enjoys brownies brought by Alan and his Mom and then Caillou and Clementine decide to put on a play. Alan is invited to join and Leo is a part of the play too. The plot is that Clementine is a photographer in a wild jungle. Leo is her driver and Caillou is a jungle animal. Just then, Alan shows up --- he's dressed up as a dragon. Clementine protests that there are no dragons in the jungle, but Caillou figures he must just be visiting for the first time. Clementine says she'll snap a picture and then Caillou announces that he's going to tame the dragon. Caillou makes some soft noises that tame the dragon. Caillou and Alan imagine flying together on a dragon's back. Caillou tells Miss Martin that he found out what Alan was good at --- acting!

Caillou the Helper

S4 E17 Caillou the Helper

Caillou gets extra attention from Mommy and Rosie when he scrapes his knees; Caillou learns about police officers; Grandpa takes Caillou to the park to meet his long-time friend, George. "Caillou the Patient" - It's a beautiful day outside and Caillou is going to the park with Mommy and Rosie. He's very eager to get going and races outside before Mommy and Rosie are quite ready. He decides to bring his toy airplane with him to the park. On the way there, Caillou plays with his toy plane. He imagines being a pilot flying the fastest that anyone's ever flown. As he races around, Mommy warns him to be careful because he's not wearing his running shoes. He trips over a rock, falls, and scrapes his knees. The toy plane also goes flying and the propeller gets bent up. Mommy takes Caillou home to treat the injury. She pretends to be a doctor, first examining the injury, cleaning it up and then placing bandages on both of his knees. Rosie helps out. She then gets him a juice and takes him over to the couch to rest. They pretend that the couch is an airplane and that Mommy is a flight attendant. Caillou even gets a cookie. He spots Leo and Clementine playing outside. Caillou decides to test if his knees are feeling better. They are, so it's time to go back to the park. Caillou shows Leo and Clementine his bandages and they get down to playing. Leo takes a bit of a fall. He's fine, but Caillou pretends to be a doctor and examines him. "Caillou the Police Officer" - Caillou and Mommy are on their way to playschool. Caillou's reading off the road signs. When they get a traffic light, Caillou finds he can't read it because it isn't on. There's some construction going on and there's a police officer directing traffic. At recess that day, Caillou watches the police officer while the other kids are playing. He had thought police officers only "caught bad guys," but he finds out that there's actually a lot of other things they do. He imagines being one himself. First, he helps out a little girl who lost her parents and then straightens out a traffic jam. He decides he wants to actually direct traffic and so he constructs a whistle. He tries to use it to get his classmates to stop, but they're not impressed --- they're busy playing a game of their own. Caillou joins in the game --- he pretends to be a police officer and puts Leo, who's a bank robber, in jail. He tells him that he has to stay in there for hundred years --- or least until he promises never to do it again. Later that day, Caillou cleans up after snack time and then everyone goes outside again for a story. Caillou notices that the construction has ended and he spots the police officer nearby, looking rather tired and thirsty. He asks Miss Martin if he can offer him a juice and she gives the okay. The police officer is happy to accept the juice. He just got done ticketing a car --- it was parked in front of a fire hydrant. He thanks Caillou for the juice and Caillou asks where his car is. He shows Caillou that he actually rides a bike and Caillou is pleased --- he rides one too. Caillou is happy to have helped out the police officer and to have made a new friend. "Grandpa's Friend" - Caillou and Grandpa are going to the park. They take the bus and Caillou notes that Grandpa, like him, didn't have to pay anything. He shows Caillou that he has a pass. When they arrive, Caillou realizes that they're not at the park he normally visits. He wonders just what they're going to do --- this park doesn't have any slides, swings, or other playground equipment. Just then, somebody comes up saying "Hey, kid." Caillou thinks he's talking to him, but he's not. Grandpa introduces his friend, George --- they've known each other a long time and George is older, so he calls Grandpa "kid." They first met back when Grandpa was even smaller than Rosie. They're going to be playing croquet. Caillou doesn't know this game and is a bit nervous at first. However, he finds that George enjoys telling riddles. He shows George his dinosaur, Rexy and soon he's not so uncomfortable around him. They get down to the game. Caillou imagines swinging the croquet ball all the way into the atmosphere and yet still getting into the hole. He's actually having a bit of trouble with the game, though, but soon starts to get the hang of it. He even plays a trick on George, by replacing his ball with an apple. Then, George hits his ball into the pond. Caillou is worried that the game is over, but it's not a very deep pond, so he and Grandpa head over to find it. As they search for it, Grandpa relates a tale of how he once did the same thing when he was young. He ended up falling into the water and getting all wet. They finally find the ball and the game resumes. George wins, but not by much. Caillou decides that croquet is quite fun.

Caillou's Christmas

S4 E18 Caillou's Christmas

Caillou goes out caroling with his entire family; everyone at Caillou's playschool celebrates the holidays; Caillou tries to stay up all night to wait for Santa Claus. "Caillou Goes Caroling" - It's a snowy day and Caillou is having fun making a snowman. It's pretty much done and he shows it to Daddy. He suggests that Caillou go inside and ask Mommy for a carrot to use for the nose. Caillou gets his carrot for the snowman. However, he's also told he has to stop playing and get ready, because that evening, Grandma and Grandpa are going to go caroling with them. Caillou isn't all that happy about this --- he'd rather keep playing. Meanwhile, Rosie is feeling rather cranky because she missed her nap. Grandma and Grandpa arrive. At first, Caillou is discouraged because all of the songs they mention are ones that Caillou doesn't know the lyrics to, such as "Good King Wenceslas." They ultimately decide, however, to go with "Jingle Bells," since everyone knows it. Caillou even gets some bells to ring. As they head out to go caroling, Rosie indicates that she wants the bells. Mommy tells her that they are Caillou's, but seeing how upset Rosie is, Caillou agrees to let her have the bells. Grandpa says that it was a very "Christmasy" thing to do. Caillou begins to find that he enjoys caroling. He gets to stay up past his bedtime and sometimes they even get treats, such as when they stop by Miss Martin's and she gives them cookies. Their final stop is the senior center, which Caillou has been to with Grandma many times. As they perform, Caillou imagines riding in a one-horse open sleigh with Rosie and a Christmas tree appearing like magic. "A Playschool Party" - It's the last day before Caillou's school is out for the holidays and they're having a party to celebrate. All of the kids are bringing things that represent the traditions that they celebrate. As Caillou and Mommy are getting ready to leave, Caillou's checking with her for the fourth time to make sure she hasn't forgotten his present for Miss Martin. He's also brought dessert for the class. Leo shows everyone a Chanukah dreidel and Caillou's happy that he knows how to spin it, having played with it before at Leo's house. Clementine shows everyone the Mkeka mat her family uses as part of their Kwanzaa celebration. Xavier brought chopsticks, which everyone has fun using, even if they're not able to use them well. Later on, they go out to play. Caillou imagines sliding down a slide made purely of snow and meeting a penguin. "Caillou's Christmas Eve" - Caillou's enjoying some Christmas cookies that Mommy made, but he's also leaving some for Daddy and Santa. He heads over towards the Christmas tree, where Rosie is examining the presents. He asks Daddy if it would be possible to open just one that night, but he says that he has to wait until tomorrow. That night, cookies and milk are left out for Santa and Caillou also leaves out a carrot for the reindeer. That night, Caillou decides that he wants to stay awake for meeting Santa. Caillou does his best to keep awake, but finds that it's harder than he thought. It seems to be taking so long. He remembers that Santa has to deliver presents to everyone in the world and figures that must be why it's taking so long. Caillou imagines being Santa's helper, speeding up the process by directing Santa to the houses in his neighborhood. As he continues to wait for Santa, he finds that it's very warm and cozy under the covers. He decides it will not hurt to close his eyes for just a few minutes, but pretty soon he's drifted off to sleep. The next morning, Caillou checks the plate with the cookies. They're gone, indicating that Santa came.

Springtime for Caillou

S4 E19 Springtime for Caillou

Caillou celebrates Valentine's Day and imagines being Cupid; Caillou misses his winter snowman, but finds things to enjoy about spring; Caillou works hard to come up with a good gag for April Fools Day. "Caillou's Valentines" - One morning, Mommy serves Caillou and Rosie a special breakfast --- heart shaped pancakes. It's Valentine's Day. Caillou recalls how last year, he went to Valentine's Day party at his friend Leo's house. Daddy explains that Valentine's Day is a day of the year when you tell, and show others how much you care about them. For example, he got flowers for Mommy. Mommy and Daddy also give both Caillou and Rosie their very own Valentine cards, complete with stickers. Rosie's are hearts, while Caillou's are little Cupids. Daddy explains how Cupid flies around and creates love using his bow and arrow. Caillou finishes up his breakfast and heads for playschool. That day at playschool, Miss Martin is having the kids all make Valentines for each other. Caillou has a lot of fun making the cards, but when he sees the nice card that Leo made for him, he's not so sure about them. Leo, however, really likes his cards. Then, Miss Martin announces that it's time to give out the Valentines. As the kids head over to the mailboxes, Caillou doesn't realize that he dropped the card he made for Leo. As he starts putting his Valentine's in the mailboxes, he imagines that he's Cupid. He spreads love in his own way, shooting arrows into his friends mailboxes. But when he gets to Leo's, he finds he's out of arrows! He realizes he's lost his card. He's upset, but he tells Miss Martin and she says they can search for it while the rest of the class is having their snack. In fact, Caillou can make Leo a brand-new card. So while the rest of the class has heart-shaped cookies, Caillou works on a new Valentine. Miss Martin even helps to add a special touch --- a letter "L" for Leo. "Hello Spring!" - Winter is ending and Caillou's snowman is melting. He tries to fix him up by adding more snow from the ground, but it's really not working very well. Mommy calls him in for lunch and when he comes back outside, even more of the snow is gone and his snowman is in really bad shape. Its button eyes fall off and then its carrot nose. Caillou goes back inside, saying that he doesn't like spring, he likes winter. Mommy is putting away winter clothes for the summer, but he doesn't want to give up his winter coat and scarf. He says that he's going back out to play in the snow. He finds Daddy outside raking leaves that were buried under the snow. He's placing them in the compost for the garden for the flower garden. Caillou asks if they can start planting the vegetable garden too and Daddy agrees. Next, Daddy takes Caillou to the park and Caillou decides to put on his spring jacket, as it really is getting kind of warm. At the park, he finds that there's a robin and Canada geese. He starts to realize that there's all sorts of fun things that he can do now that it's spring. There's no snow covering up the sand in the sandbox anymore. He imagines doing all sorts of fun activities --- sliding, playing soccer, biking, swimming and using a kite to actually glide through the air. Back at home, he finds another thing to enjoy about spring --- crocuses blooming in the flower boxes by the porch. "Caillou's April Fool" - One morning, Caillou notices his Daddy doing something silly. He sets the clock in the kitchen forward from 8 to 9. Caillou wonders what he's doing and he explains that he's playing a trick on Mommy because it's April Fools Day. When Mommy arrives, she eventually notices the time on the clock and acts all worried. "April Fools" Daddy declares and Mommy says that he really had her going, although it sounds like perhaps she's only acting as if she was fooled. Nevertheless, as Daddy leaves to go plant the spring flower bulbs, she comments that she's going to get him back. Caillou asks about April Fools and Mommy explains it, saying that he can play a trick as long as it's not mean-spirited. Caillou decides to try playing a trick on Rosie, but wonders what sort of trick he can play to make her laugh and smile. He tries dressing up one of her dollies in a funny outfit, but Rosie doesn't even seem to care. She just asks him if he wants to play "dollies." As he tries to think up another trick, Mommy tells him that he has a phone call. He picks up the phone and hears a roaring sound. He thinks it's a dinosaur, but it's actually Mommy --- she was playing a trick on him. Caillou decides that he wants to play a trick on Mommy. He imagines her dressed up as a clown. He then imagines another trick --- replacing her bunny slippers with a hoard of real, live, hopping bunnies. As he continues to brainstorm, Daddy finds something odd about his newspaper --- every other page in it is upside-down. It seems Mommy got him back after all. Caillou finally comes up with a trick to play on Mommy --- he places Rexy in the refrigerator. Next, he works with Mommy to come up with a trick to play on Daddy. He takes Daddy out to the flower garden, saying that the flowers he just grew have popped up like magic. It turns out, though, that they're actually just paper flowers.

Caillou Can Do It!

S4 E20 Caillou Can Do It!

Grandma shows Caillou how to make juice from scratch; Caillou's plans for a puppet-show are interrupted; Caillou and Grandpa collect rocks together. "A Sweet and Sour Day" - Caillou is on his way to his Grandma's house and he's very eager to get there. Mommy drops him off, saying she'll be back in a little while to pick him up. Grandma's busy with some gardening and Caillou volunteers to help her water her flowers. As he does so, he plays with his toy car as well. He imagines that he's driving a large water truck. He goes around the neighborhood, watering large plants. As he does, they sprout like magic and apples blossom before his very eyes. He even gives some kids a shower on a hot day. Back in real life, a cardinal bird appears at the bird bath. Caillou likes the bird, but is disappointed when it leaves almost right away. He asks Grandma why it left and she checks and sees that it's because the bird bath is empty. He offers to fill it up, but first he needs more water. He goes over to the hose, but the knob for the water falls off. He's worried that he broke it, but Grandma explains that it was already messed up and she's been meaning to fix it. Caillou fills the watering can, but finds that it's very heavy. He lugs it over to the bird bath anyway, but spills almost all of the water. So he uses one of his sandals to scoop it up and fills the bird bath. Grandma decides that it's snacktime. They go inside and Caillou finds that Grandma is out of juice. Grandma suggests that they can make their own. They gather up three different fruits --- two each of grapefruits, lemons and oranges. Caillou finds that both the grapefruits and the lemons are very sour. Grandma explains that the juice will taste better once they add a "secret ingredient," which turns out to be sugar. As they finish making the juice, Mommy arrives. Caillou offers her some and she quite likes it. "Caillou's Puppet Show" - Caillou is at playschool. He and his friends are doing crafts. He's decided to make a finger puppet, but he's not the only one with that idea. Jason and Jeffrey have also made finger puppets. They pretend that they're on a farm. Caillou is the farmer, while Jason and Jeffrey are a cow and a chicken. Miss Martin says that they should put on a puppet show. They can even use their very own puppet theatre. Not right now, though --- it's time to go home. They can do it tomorrow. When Caillou gets home, Caillou races to show Rosie his puppet. Daddy tries to stop him, but he gets to Rosie's room first. There, he finds that Rosie's not feeling well. She's coughing and has a fever. Mommy says that she has the flu. She tells Caillou that he'd best stay out of Rosie's room, or he might get the flu also. Caillou heads off to his room to play quietly on his own. He wants to help Rosie feel better, but he doesn't want to get the flu himself. The next morning, though, he wakes up and finds that he's coughing and his muscles are aching. He's caught the flu, but he still wants to go playschool, as he doesn't want to miss the puppet play. He goes downstairs to the kitchen and acts as if everything's fine. Mommy quickly catches him coughing and sends him up to bed. Caillou protests, but Mommy tells him that if he goes to school, his friends could get sick too. So he heads back upstairs and tries to rest. Later on, Rosie comes into the room. It seems she's feeling a bit better. He puts on a puppet show for her and iamgines being an actual farmer. He finds a cow in his bathtub, a chicken in the kitchen and even a horse sitting at the dining room table reading a newspaper. Mommy comes into his room and tells him to take a look out the window. He sees his entire playschool out there. Through the window, he, Jason and Jeffrey put on their puppet play. "Caillou's Collection" - Caillou is having fun splashing in a stream. As he plays, he finds some neat rocks. He wants to take them home, but finds that his pockets aren't big enough. In an inspired room, he grabs a picnic basket to gather up his rocks. At home, he lays out the rocks on the table. Daddy comments that Caillou has quite a collection and mentions that he has a stamp collection of his own. He tells Caillou that he should find a better place for the rocks. That night, Mommy tucks Caillou into bed, only to find something hard underneath the covers. Once again, Caillou has chosen a spot for his rock collection that doesn't really work. He gets a box to put them in instead. The next day, Caillou is busy sorting his rocks when Grandpa arrives. Grandpa also collects rocks --- really big rocks. He takes Caillou to a quarry with all kinds of gigantic rocks. Caillou figures they must be the biggest rocks in the world and he watches as a worker chisels them into smaller rocks. He imagines doing that himself and making his very own sculptures. Grandpa suggests that Caillou pick out one of the chiseled rocks to add his collection. He picks out one that looks like it has a smiley face. Grandpa compliments his taste in choosing rocks and Caillou decides to give it to him as a gift. Grandpa says that he'll add it to his rock garden. Caillou doesn't believe there's such a thing, but Grandpa shows him otherwise. Caillou makes his very own rock garden out of his collection, with a path made of rocks leading up to it. Caillou's entire family admires the garden and Rosie takes a watering can and "waters" it.

Winter

S4 E22 Winter

Wintertime brings lots of new experiences. Sarah teaches Caillou to build a snowman, Dad helps him stay upright on his ice skates (and picks him up when he falls down), and Mom shows Caillou the fine points of downhill skiing, including how not to be afraid of the ski lift. Meanwhile, Rexy has never seen snow and thinks the backyard is disappearing. The shimmering winter blanket inspires Gilbert to write a poem. And, Teddy, in true bear style, just craves a long winter’s nap! But soon, a glorious sight makes everyone sit up and take notice. When Caillou and Dad get to the vendor too late to buy a good Christmas tree, they decorate one in the yard instead. All the beautiful colored lights chase away the winter gloom.

Caillou's Holiday Movie

S4 E24 Caillou's Holiday Movie

Caillou's Interview (Warm-up clip): Caillou is interviewed by Sarah, but the interview goes awry when Gilbert snatches Sarah's question list and the tape recorder ate the tape. Caillou's Holiday Movie / Caillou: Vive Le Fêtes! (Feature) Caillou is looking forward to Christmas, but it seems to be taking an especially long time to come. To help keep track of time, he's given a "12 Days of Christmas" calendar, with removable ornaments that each day reveal a Christmas tradition from somewhere around the world. He learns that Christmas is a time of giving and sharing and Rosie does too - although the way in which she shares is a big (and delightful) surprise to everyone. He also participates in a Christmas parade, a Christmas play and learns about Hanukkah from his friend Leo and his Mom.

La Surprise de Caillou

S4 E192 La Surprise de Caillou

Caillou makes a new cup for Mommy when he breaks her favorite one; Caillou, Leo and Clementine throw their teacher a surprise birthday party; a power outage happens while Sarah is over at Caillou's to play. "Caillou's Surprise" - It's a nice, peaceful morning and Caillou and his family are having breakfast. Caillou wants some juice and so Mommy suggests he get a glass out of the drainboard. Caillou decides he wants to drink out of a cup. He picks one up, but it's a bit too heavy for him and he ends up dropping it and breaking it. It turns out that this was a special cup that Grandma made for Mommy. Mommy's disappointed at the loss of her cup, but accidents happen. Still, Caillou's upset about breaking the cup. When Grandma arrives that day, he tells her about it. Grandma has an idea --- she's taking Caillou to the craft center today, and can create a new cup for Mommy there. They arrive at the craft center. Grandma gives Caillou an apron and they get down to work. Grandma's making a pot, while Caillou gets going on his cup. He imagines some other things to make out of clay --- a car, or even a flying car. He ends up getting splattered with the clay, but it's okay since he has the apron on. He rather likes working with the clay --- it's kind of like playing with mud. He finally gets the cup crafted and both he and Grandma put their creations in the kiln. Once they've baked, they paint them. Caillou's not happy with his colors --- they're dull and drab. Grandma tells him that they have to put it back in the oven in order for the colors to brighten. Caillou's rather dubious about this and he's not happy at having to wait for the clay to bake again. They'll have to come back for it tomorrow and Caillou wanted to give Mommy the cup today. Grandma advises him that some things are worth waiting for. The next day, Grandma and Caillou return to the craft center. Caillou is very pleased --- the colors on his cup are now very bright. Back at home, he tries to tempt Mommy with offers of various beverages before finally just showing her the cup. She loves it and Caillou promises not break it. "A Surprise for Miss Martin" - At playschool, Leo tells Caillou and the rest of the class about a party one of his friends held. It was a birthday party --- for his goldfish! Hearing about the party, Miss Martin casually mentions that her birthday is coming up on Monday. Together, Leo, Caillou and Clementine decide to put together a surprise party for her. Caillou suggests making cupcakes. However, when it comes to a present for her, he's not really sure what to do. He imagines some ideas --- a car, a cape that lets her fly or even an airplane. None of these are really practical, though. The kids get together at Caillou's house to make the cupcakes. Rosie's there too. She wants to help, but ends up breaking an egg. Mommy has her stir the batter instead. As they work on the cupcakes, they discuss present ideas. Caillou comes up with the idea of making her a card and Clementine suggests flowers. While the cupcakes bake, Mommy shows them how to create paper flowers and Rosie helps too. On Miss Martin's birthday, they sneak the party items into class. They then have her cover her eyes and surprise her. The party's a big surprise. She likes the paper flowers and the card and everyone enjoys the cupcakes. "A Surprise Sleepover" - Caillou and Sarah are outside playing in Caillou's yard. Storm clouds appear just as Daddy pulls up in the driveway. It starts to rain, so they hurry inside just before it really starts pouring. Just after they get inside, the power goes out. At first, they're a bit scared and Rosie is quite scared. Daddy goes to get a flashlight and they light some candles. Suddenly, things aren't so spooky. Sarah and Caillou grab a couple of flashlights and go to look outside. They see that power is out throughout the neighborhood. Daddy checks a report on the radio. Caillou wonders how the radio can work with the power out and Daddy explains that it's operated on batteries. Mommy calls Sarah's Mom and asks if Sarah can stay for the night. Everything's okay, so it's a sleepover. Sarah and Caillou build a tent after dinner and invite Rosie in. Rosie gets a bit scared though and leaves. Caillou too is a bit scared when Gilbert's shadow looks like a scary monster. Caillou and Sarah decide to be jungle explorers and follow Gilbert around the house. They find that he likes to chase after the light of the flashlight. They have fun with this, but then the power comes back on. They're disappointed, but Gilbert's tired anyway. They ask Daddy if they can sleep in the tent. He agrees, saying that he'll go get a couple of sleeping bags. Caillou and Sarah pretend that they're in a forest and Caillou imagines that he's a forest ranger. Caillou helps a bunny and a bear to not be afraid of the dark. In the tent, he makes a shadow puppet of a bear. Caillou tries showing it to Sarah, but Sarah is sleeping. Caillou soon falls asleep too, and that's what Daddy finds when he returns to say that he can't find the sleeping bags.

Capitaine Caillou

S4 E216 Capitaine Caillou

Caillou participates in a boat race with a new sailboat from his Grandpa; Caillou experiences loud sounds; Caillou is the ring bearer at the wedding of Mommy and Daddys' friend Jonas. "Captain Caillou" - Caillou his eagerly waiting for his Grandpa --- today they're both going for a visit to the park. When Grandpa arrives, he's carrying a package and asks Caillou if he's ready for a special day at the park. Caillou wonders what's so special about it and figures it has something to do with the contents of the package. He's very curious as to what's in it, but it's a surprise --- not to be revealed until they get to the park. They take a bus to the park and Caillou tries to guess just what could be in the box. Grandpa gives him a hint --- it's something that they can play with at the park. Caillou imagines all sorts of possibilities. He asks if maybe it's a teddy bear, or even a real bear. He also imagines an airplane. Actually, it turns out to be a toy sailboat. Caillou likes the sailboat and imagines that he's a real boat captain. Just then, Caillou's friend from playschool, Emma, shows up. She and her Dad brought a toy sailboat too. They decide to have a race with another little boy who's at the park. Grandpa reminds Caillou that even if he doesn't win, the most important thing is to have fun. The race begins. At first things are pretty even, but Caillou feels like maybe he has a slight edge. He makes the boat go faster, but then it tips over. Even more upsetting --- Emma's boat tips over as well. The little boy wins the race. Caillou apologizes to Emma for what happened, but she's not too upset. It turns out that she's been going to the park and racing her boat for a long time and it always seems to tip over. They both congratulate the little boy for winning. Caillou decides he likes being Captain Caillou and wants to come back and race again. "The Loudest Noise" - Caillou is inside, playing with his toy firetruck. He's having a lot of fun with it, racing it and making revving and siren noises. There's a problem, though --- seems Rosie's napping and he's being too loud. Mommy asks him if he could go outside and play. He agrees because he knows that if he goes outside to play, he can be as loud as he wants. So he does, only to come up against something even noisier --- Daddy mowing the lawn. After Daddy is done mowing the lawn, they both go inside for apple juice. Caillou wonders if there's a louder sound than the lawn mower. Back outside, the recycle truck shows up. It's very loud, but Daddy says he knows an even louder sound. He takes Caillou on a car trip. On the way to their destination, they pass by a construction site. It's pretty loud, but it's not where Daddy's taking him. They pass an ice cream truck. It's a "yummy" sound and certainly kind of loud, but nowhere near the loudest. It turns out that Daddy's taken him to an airport. The sound of the planes taking off and landing is quite loud. Caillou absolutely loves the planes and imagines being a real pilot. Back at home, Caillou goes to bed to the sound of Gilbert's soft purring. It's nothing like the planes, but he loves it anyway. "Caillou's First Wedding" - Mommy and Daddy’s friend Jonas is getting married and Caillou and Rosie have some important duties. Caillou is the ring bearer, while Rosie is the flower girl. Everyone's all dressed up and Caillou remembers to bring a carrot for Jonas's horse, Lucky. When they get there Caillou is eager to see Lucky again. He's so eager that for a minute, he forgets his manners and Mommy and Daddy have to remind him to say "excuse me." They first have to conduct a practice of the wedding. Grandma stands in for the bride, Kristen, and the practice goes well. Afterwards, Caillou gets to see Lucky again. It turns out that Lucky is pulling a wagon for the ceremony. The time comes for the wedding. Caillou and Rosie both do their jobs, but then Rosie ends up tripping and spilling the flowers. This causes Caillou to trip and he drops the rings, but he manages to find them. Caillou is at first upset at what happened, but Mommy and Daddy are proud of them. Things may not have gone entirely smoothly, but they managed to recover nicely. At the end, Caillou catches the bouquet. He gives it to Rosie.

S4 E250 Caillou le bibliothécaire

Caillou and Rosie visit the library; after returning from the library, Caillou is eager to read a book about pirates; Caillou's teacher, Ms. Martin, encourages him to make a storybook out of his superhero tale. "Caillou the Librarian" - Caillou, Rosie and Mommy are headed to the library for story time. Caillou is having fun waving around his library card like its a fish and entertaining Rosie. He tells her that maybe one day she'll have her very own library card. They reach the library, but it's still a few minutes before story time. Caillou and Rosie have fun looking at a fish at a tank and then Caillou takes Rosie over to the board books. They get caught up in a picture book filled with animals and Mommy has to tell them to quiet down. Caillou decides to go look for a book about fish, but he can't seem to find a single one. A librarian named Vanessa notices his predicament. It turns out she's one reading for story time and it just so happens that the featured book is about a dolphin named Daphne. As he and Rosie enjoy the story, Caillou imagines what it would be like to be a dolphin. Afterwards, Vanessa asks if Caillou would like to borrow the book. He does, so she gives it to him. Rosie's interested in the book too. She and Caillou end up in a tug-of-war for the book and end up tearing a page. At first, Caillou is worried that he won't be able to borrow anymore books and tries to hide it. He realizes this isn't going to work and so he shows it to Mommy. After talking about it a little, they take it up to Vanessa, who is now working the circulation desk. Together, Vanessa, Caillou and Rosie tape up the book and then Caillou is able to check it out. Rosie also checks out some books and gets her very own library card. "Caillou the Bookworm" - This time, Caillou, Rosie and Mommy are on the way home from a visit to the library. Caillou has a book about pirates that he just can't wait to read. Meanwhile, Rosie really wants to play "horsey," but Mommy and Daddy are just too busy to play. However, Grandma is coming over and they agree that she can play "horsey" with Rosie. Caillou heads inside to his bed to read the book. However, Gilbert keeps getting in the way, cuddling and blocking him from reading. Caillou decides that maybe the playroom will be a better place to read. He gets there only to find himself distracted by Grandma and Rosie's game of "horsey." He next heads for the living room and gets started, but just then, Mommy starts vacuuming the floor. He heads back to his room, thinking that maybe Gilbert is gone --- but he isn't. He spots the closet and decides that he can get some peace and quiet there. Sure enough, he's able to read his book in peace. He imagines that he's pirate with a parrot on his shoulder, searching for treasure. He eventually finds it --- a treasure chest loaded with cookies! Just then, Mommy, Daddy, Rosie and Grandma arrive in his room. They've been looking for him and at first think he's not there. He then revealed that he's in the closet. Now that he's finished reading his book, he agrees to play with Rosie. "Caillou the Storyteller" - Caillou is at his playschool, playing with Jason and Jeffrey. They'd like to go outside and play and, in fact, it's about time for recess. Unfortunately, though, a thunderstorm has just started outside. Caillou is disappointed. He knows that rain is nice sometimes, but he'd like to go outside. Ms. Martin uses the storm as an opportunity to explain the water cycle. Caillou imagines that he's a superhero capable of stopping the rain. He flies out to the top of the cloud and stomps all the water out of it. Ms. Martin notes that reading is a good way to pass the time when it's raining and suggests that Caillou find a book for a story to be read aloud. Caillou asks for a book about a superhero, one that stops raining. She says that she doesn't have one like that, but perhaps Caillou could make one. Caillou agrees. He tells Ms. Martin all about his story and she writes it down. He then makes some pictures as illustrations and his story is made into a book. Mommy arrives and he happily shows her the story. He agrees to leave it at school, in case other kids want to read it.

Caillou et le Grand Toboggan

S4 E297 Caillou et le Grand Toboggan

Caillou helps Rosie when she's teething; Caillou pretends to be a firefighter; Caillou and Leo pretend to be tow truck drivers and crane operators. "Caillou Helps Out" - It's dinner-time and Caillou is enjoying a meal of spaghetti and meatballs. Rosie, however, doesn't seem to be very hungry. She's also rather fussy, knocking her stuffed rabbit to the kitchen floor. That night, it's storytime, and Caillou is reading a story to his Daddy, about a baby bird. They hear a cry from Rosie's room --- it seems Rosie is having trouble getting to sleep. Daddy explains that Rosie is teething and it's rather painful. Daddy and Mommy can't seem to get her to sleep, but Caillou thinks maybe he could. First, he tries singing her a song. She seems to like the song, but it doesn't get her to sleep. Next, he lets Rosie borrow his toy firetruck, but she's not interested. Gilbert shows up and Caillou gets him to lie down with her, but she's still fussy. She says that she wants her bunny. Caillou can't find it at first, but then remembers that it's in the kitchen. He goes to get it and Rosie's calmed down a bit, but still isn't going to sleep. He tells her a story in which they attend a fair. He imagines that they're both riding around a kangaroo, another one of Rosie's stuffed toys. When he gets to the end, Rosie's asleep "Caillou the Firefighter" - Caillou and his friends are at playschool where Leo is directing a "stop/go" game. Ms. Martin says it's time to clean up to get ready for that special presentation. As he cleans up, Caillou notices the twins Jason and Jeffrey arguing over a toy rocket. Caillou rethinks his decision and suggests to Leo that they take turns wearing the hat. Leo likes this idea. Ms. Martin explains the purpose of a smoke detector. She then introduces the special guest --- the town firechief. He tests out the fire alarm and has them do a firedrill. He then introduces them to his dalmatian, Sparky. He asks Leo, who is taking turn with the hat, if he'd like to try out the siren on the firetruck. Leo asks if Caillou can try it as well and the firefighter agrees. Caillou imagines that he's driving the firetruck through town. In his fantasy, he rescues a kitten. Caillou says that when he grows up, he'd like to be a firefighter. The firechief says they'd be happy to have him on the team. "Caillou to the Rescue" - Caillou is in his room searching for a toy car that his Daddy gave him. At first, Caillou's a bit upset, but quickly gets into the game. He finds the cards and he and Leo play. They imagine that they're tow truck operators. Later, Mommy makes them a snack and Rosie shows up again, wanting to play. Caillou gives in and lets her be part of the "rescue team."
