S24 E2 • Couple in disguise/Snatch Theft/Drug Mules
A ‘Couple in disguise’ that robbed the elderly Despite being robbed at the lift lobby, an elderly victim maintained her composure to remember the details of the culprit. This gave the Police a crucial lead to arrest the culprit within 10 minutes of the crime. However, this was not the end. Police had to confront the culprit with more evidence before he admitted to his crime… and his accomplice. Chong Pang Snatch Theft On Friday, 13th of February 2009 at about 9.30pm, a snatch theft occurred at Sembawang Road - Chong Pang neighbourhood. The culprits have not been caught yet. Rental Scam In these challenging economic times, we foresee an increasing number of people who would turn to crime in their bid to resolve their financial problems. Attracted by the high returns within a short time span, a man in desperate need for fast cash to repay his loans took his friend’s advice to “rent out” his flat to, not one, but several tenants. He and his friend eventually paid for their crime when the law caught up with them. Operation "Night Painter" The number of loanshark reports rose from 9,765 in 2007 to 11,789 in 2008. To flush out the masterminds behind the illegal money lending syndicates, Police mounts massive intelligence probes to elicit information on the workings of each syndicate before acting in one fell swoop to cripple the entire syndicate. Watch how Police meticulously planned and executed an extensive operation in July 2008 to put a notorious syndicate out of business.
