S1995 E1 • Maurice et Katia Krafft : Au rythme de la terre

The film tells the life of the Krafft, from the first ascent by 7-year-old Maurice on the volcano Stromboli until their tragic deaths in 1991 on Mount Unzen in Japan. They were a couple who were also scientists, filmmakers, researchers and photographers who had made vulcanology the raison d'être of their lives. Together they made over 800 hours of video of 128 volcanic eruptions and created films of great aesthetic and scientific value. This documentary represents their journey to locations around the world. Active volcanoes were the reason for stopping and offering the opportunity to encounter different aspects of vulcanology, with particular attention to risk prevention, observation of eruptive phenomena and the transformation of the land. This film pays tribute to the two people and the love for the land that had dominated their lives.
