S1 E1 • The Infamous New Members
Our main character Shigeno Daigo is a 2nd year student in middle school, whose father is a pro baseball player who went as far as playing in the Major League. Daigo goes to Fuurin Academy with his childhood friend Sakura Mutsuko, who was also his teammate on the little league baseball team. While both of them are on the baseball team, they only have 6 members in total, of which 4 are girls. The Fuurin baseball team just had 6 members, but with the addition of the Nishina and four other 1st years hailing from the famous Nanyou Lions, the upperclassmen redouble their focus and go to the field for morning practice. However, those 1st years declare that they have no intention of joining practice until their mentor from their Nanyou days, coach Kunitomo, finalizes his transfer to be the coach of the Fuurin baseball team. S1 E3 • What's with This Guy?!
Since the transfer of the new coach fell through, four of the 1st year boys decide to move on to the senior league. That means there are only three new members for the Fuurin baseball team, one boy, Nishina, and two girls from the famous Yokohama Little team, Anita and Chisato. They just managed to scrape together 9 members when they find out that their first public tournament is only two weeks away. S1 E4 • Captain Daigo
The morning of the first tournament match for the Fuurin Middle School Baseball team, Daigo's father Goro talks to his eternal friend, former teammate, and Daigo's coach in his grade school days, Satou Toshiya. While updating each other, Toshiya brings the conversation to the upcoming Fuurin match. The first opponent for Fuurin's new baseball team is going to be Itsuki Middle School. Itsuki's ace Yokouchi is surprised to see that Fuurin just has 9 players, of which 6 are girls. S1 E6 • Backup
Luckily, Fuurin was able to pull ahead with three runs in the first inning of their first regional preliminaries game. However, Itsuki's Yokouchi begins to mix in sliders that he had kept hidden up his sleeve until then, causing one batter after the other to strike out. Mutsuko combines accuracy and breaking balls to keep the Itsuki batters under control as well. S1 E7 • Mutsuko's Special Training
The next opponent for Fuurin's baseball team is going to be Seiwa, Daigo and Sakura's old Little League teammates Urabe and Andy now play. After seeing Seiwa steal 11 bases in their first match and seeing that match be called, both Anita and Daigo are made painfully aware that they need to do something to combat Seiwa's mobility and base stealing prowess. S1 E8 • Extreme Small Ball
In order to not allow Seiwa to utilize their frightening mobility with base steals and bunt, Daigo and team do drills to teach their pitcher Mutsuko how to do pick-off attempts of runners. The next day, after having done their due diligence, Daigo and team go into their second game. Even though Daigo predicted that Seiwa would not recklessly attack from the beginning, Seiwa's top batter suddenly leaves the base. They immediately try to shake Fuurin's battery. In the second match of the district preliminaries, Anita is too focused on being cautious of Seiwa Middle's mobility and loses sight of everything else. Even from right field, Nishina saw this and points out her missteps so accurately that Anita can't retort. She had painful memories about the catcher position from her time at the prestigious Yokohama Littles as well. Fuurin Middle managed to catch up thanks to Anita's hit, but in the top of the 6th inning, they let Seiwa all but secure their win with a long hit. The 2nd match of the district preliminaries is finally entering the final inning! In the top of the 7th inning, Fuurin Middle allows Seiwa Middle to widen the gap further by scoring another run. With Daigo's epic game ending hit, Fuurin Middle defeats the formidable opponent Seiwa Middle, where Daigo's old friends Urabe and Andy play. Even though the heavy rain from the day before had barely stopped, Fuurin Middle has to play in the semifinals against Yanagawa Middle. S1 E17 • The Unexpected Pitcher
Chisato's timely hit in the top of the 5th inning finally allows Fuurin to break free from their no-hit spell and get two runs in against Oobi's second pitcher Idemitsu. However, Oobi then puts Mayumura in as a reliever and she ends the offense after Tao hits a grounder to shortstop. While Chisato had shown surprisingly nice pitching after starting in the 4th inning, she's out of energy and has no grip strength left for another inning. S1 E18 • We've Come This Far
While Yayoi, emergency reliever taking over for Chisato, is able to subdue the Oobi batters, Fuurin's counter-offense is also shut down. The game goes into the final inning with Oobi Middle leading with three runs. In the all or nothing top of the 7th inning, Fuurin has a real chance with two outs, but first and third loaded! Top batter Chisato toughs it out until four balls, turning up the pressure on Oobi with two outs and fully loaded bases.
