The Top 24 junior home cooks in America arrive in the MasterChef kitchen and are immediately put to the test to prove they can master any challenge thrown their way. These chef-testants begin to learn the importance of teamwork and speed in the kitchen, while facing two sets of eliminations.

In the season’s first big team challenge, the top 20 junior home cooks test their leadership and communication skills in a bold carnival-themed competition. As 2 teams of 9 fuel 51 Circus Vargas performers with a delicious lunch, one team prepares seared salmon and the other grills NY strip steak. With at least 2 contestants on the chopping block, the home cooks must rise to the occasion in a birthday cake pressure challenge to prove their rightful spot in the competition.

S7 E4 • Off The Hook

The pressure is on for the remaining 18 young home cooks, who must debone an entire fish and make a MasterChef worthy dish, or be at risk in a challenge. Not only are there big stakes at hand – the winner will receive a special advantage worthy of the effort – but the cooks also bring heart to the table as they reveal how their cultural heritages influence their cooking styles.

The Top 16 home cooks face a sticky situation when they are divided into 3 teams and tasked with a Gordon masterclass – make as many stunning English trifles as possible in under 20 minutes. Only one team proves they have enough creativity and finesse to bypass the elimination round, the remaining home cooks are challenged to make 3 identical sliders.

To make a MasterChef-worthy duck dish, the top 14 junior home cooks must learn to butcher a whole bird, in one of the toughest mystery box challenges yet! Then, with huge stakes at hand, the cooks will work in pairs to make a dozen delectable cupcakes and the winning pair will have their recipe published in the all-new MasterChef Junior Cookbook. S7 E7 • Camp MasterChef

The Top 14 chef-testants head to the great outdoors for a chicken cookout. Hungry campers at the Kids Camp MasterChef will decide which dish reigns supreme, and the winning team’s recipe will be featured in Family Circle Magazine. The losing team must face a coconut cream pie pressure test that proves to be not as “sweet” as it may seem. Find out whose MasterChef dreams will go up in flames.

The Top 12 are in for a surprise when the kids from Kidz Bop arrive and put their twist on a mystery box challenge, deciding which ingredients the home cooks must craft into an elevated dish full of personality. It’s a battle to the finish line when the Top 10 are tasked with a pasta race. The home cooks are divided into teams and compete to roll out the longest sheet of pasta as fast as they possibly can. The first team’s pasta sheet to make it to the winner’s circle will be safe and exempt from a high-stakes elimination test in which éclairs are the dish du jour. No detail will go unnoticed.

The Top 10 participate in the season’s most crucial team challenge when the MasterChef Junior restaurant opens its doors to a special group of VIP female role models. The losing team faces a Gordon Ramsay masterclass in which they are tasked with replicating a 3-Michelin-star-rated dish.
