Arthur buy's a lorry load of electrical goods, but when he finds out that they are stolen, and the police are watching the lorry, the only way out of the problem is to set fire to the lorry, but the police pounce before they burn the goods.

Arthur opens a video shop and gets Terry to run it, but there is a mix up over a tape that has been shot by a big time gangster (Jack Last) which compromises the local police, that has been inadvertently taken back the Arthur's shop in place of the real tape, the police , the gangsters are all after it before Arthur discovers what he has.

After a robbery in a safety deposit bank, Arthur withdraws his money and hides it in his lock up and gets Terry to guard it.. But as Arthur leaves the bank he is caught on TV talking to an old friend, Maltese Tony,who is wanted by a local gang boss.

Arthur's bank manager won't extend his already considerable overdraft and his car lot, lock-up and goods have been seized by the sheriff for non-payment. He contemplates retirement, but he hasn't paid National Insurance since 1956, so doesn't qualify for a state pension.
