Hayato is a middle manager for a major Japanese auto maker who seems destined for corporate success. But his career hits a speed bump when, after a run-in with his boss, he is transferred to a factory managerial position. To make matters worse, he is assigned to coach the company’s losing rugby team, despite knowing nothing about the sport. Can Hayato prove his mettle and turn the team around?

The Astros are suffering financially from low fan attendance and high league participation fees. In a bid to return the team to profitability, Kimijima hatches a plan to cut expenses and boost ticket sales and revenue. Kimijima goes to see company director Takigawa to report that the Astros’ have finally won a game but is surprised when Takigawa begins heaping abuse on the struggling rugby team. Kimijima promises to keep winning games and increase fan attendance, but then Sasa, one of the team’s reserve players, steps out of line and causes trouble for Kimijima and the company.

The Astros are on a winning streak thanks to Kimijima’s managerial strategy and Saimon’s new rugby tactics. But when company director Takigawa shows up to inspect the factory, the players begin to worry that the planned corporate restructuring will cost them their jobs. Meanwhile, Kimijima implements a plan to attract new fans.

The Astros get a new member, Nanao, who is fast and highly skilled but happens to play the same position as Hamahata, the team’s ace. Meanwhile, at work, Kimishima becomes drawn into protests over Kazama’s plans to develop a golf course.
