Film de Ruggero Deodato
Erid4n a mis 7/10 et l'a mis dans ses coups de cœur.
Annotation :
-Australia : The ban was lifted in 2005 and the film was shown in public, in a cut version classified R18+. In 2006, the film was allowed uncut.
-Iceland : Banned due to very high impact violence and offensive depictions of both human and animal cruelty. Still banned.
-Ireland : Ban lifted in 2006.
-Malaysia / New Zealand (also refused release in 2006) / Philippines / Singapore : Banned due to its extremely violent content and actual on-screen killings of animals.
-United Kingdom : As well as being labelled as a 'Video Nasty', it was originally believed to be a snuff film. The director Ruggero Deodato was arrested for obscenity charges and was forced to prove that nobody had died during production. Despite finally being officially released in 2001, the film received 5 minutes and 44 seconds worth of cuts. In 2011, the film was re-released and all but 15 seconds of cuts- a muskrat being killed with emphasis on blood and pain- have been restored.
Le Dictateur (1940)
The Great Dictator
2 h 05 min. Sortie : 4 avril 1945 (France). Comédie dramatique, Guerre
Film de Charlie Chaplin
Annotation :
-Argentina : Banned under Videla's regime during Argentina's last-civil military dictatorship (1976–1983), for mocking dictatorships.
-Brazil : Banned by the Getúlio Vargas dictatorship for being "communist" and "demoralizing the Armed Forces".
-Germany : Banned in Nazi Germany for mocking Nazism and Hitler. During World War II, it was once shown to German soldiers in 1942: In German-occupied Yugoslavia, local guerillas sneaked a copy from Greece into an army-cinema in an act of cultural sabotage. After half of the film had been shown, German officers stopped the screening and threatened to shoot the Yugoslavian projectionist. Apparently, the film was ordered by the Reich Chancellery. It was first shown in West Germany as late as 1958.
-Paraguay : Banned under the military dictatorship of Higinio Morínigo.

-France : Banned in France for two decades because of its critical depiction of the French army during World War I.
-Germany : Banned to avoid straining relations with France.
-Spain : Banned under Franco's regime for its "anti-military" themes.
-Switzerland : Banned for its critical depiction of the French army during World War I.
Orange mécanique (1971)
A Clockwork Orange
2 h 16 min. Sortie : 1 avril 1972 (France). Drame, Science-fiction
Film de Stanley Kubrick
Erid4n a mis 10/10 et l'a mis dans ses coups de cœur.
Annotation :
-Brazil : Banned during the military dictatorship for containing obscenity and "promiscuous content". A censored version of black polka dots covering the breasts and genitals of the actors in the nude scenes became available in the country in 1978.
-Canada : Alberta and Nova Scotia banned the film. Alberta reversed the ban in 1999. The Maritime Film Classification Board has also reversed the ban. Both jurisdictions now grant an R rating to the film.
-Ireland : Banned on 10 April – Warner Bros. decided against appealing due to the film causing public controversy. Passed uncut for cinema on 13 December 1999 and released on 17 March 2000.
The re-release poster was rejected due to the words "ultra-violence" and "rape" in the tagline (it's a replica of the original British version). Sheamus Smith explained his rejection to the Irish Times; "I believe that the use of those words in the context of advertising would be offensive and inappropriate".
-Malaysia : Banned due to its explicit sexual and violent content. A censored version was released on DVD after several years.
-Malta : Banned from 1972 until 2000.
-Singapore : Banned for over 30 years, before an attempt at release was made in 2006. However, the submission for a M18 rating was rejected, and the ban was not lifted. The ban was later lifted, with film was shown uncut with an R21 rating on 28 October 2011, as part of the Perspectives Film Festival.
-South Africa : Banned under the apartheid regime for 13 years, then released with one cut and only made available to people over the age of 21.
-South Korea : Banned due to depictions of violence and gang rape. Has been lifted since.
-United Kingdom : Not banned per se, but withdrawn in the United Kingdom two years after its release by Warner Bros. following a request for this action from its own director, Stanley Kubrick. This was not because of the alleged copycat violence inspired by the film contemporaneously reported by the media, as commonly believed, but because Kubrick had received death threats against his family. It was not allowed to be shown again in the UK until after his death in 1999 and before the release of Eyes Wide Shut, his last film.
Massacre à la tronçonneuse (1974)
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
1 h 23 min. Sortie : 5 mai 1982 (France). Épouvante-Horreur
Film de Tobe Hooper
Erid4n a mis 9/10 et l'a mis dans ses coups de cœur.
Annotation :
-Australia : Banned because of graphic violence. The ban was lifted when the film passed uncut in 1984.
-Brazil : Banned during the military dictatorship for containing violent scenes that were considered by the government as an "attempt against morality and good habits". Ban lifted in the early 1980s.
-Canada : Banned in Alberta in 1975.
-Finland : Banned because of graphic violence.
-France : Banned for its violent and sadistic content.
-Germany : The film was not shown in German cinemas before 1978 and even then only in an edited version. The release on VHS was confiscated by a German court in 1985 for violating German Criminal Code Section 131 (depictions of violence). The confiscation means that even selling to adults is punishable. The confiscation was lifted by the Frankfurt district court in 2011.
-Iceland : Banned due to high level of violence; a censored version was later released.
-Ireland : Banned for video as prohibition order #3 – revoked on 2 September 1999 with an 18 certificate.
-Norway : Banned due to high impact scary violence. Ban lifted in 1997 and re-released uncut with an 18 (Adults only) rating.
-Singapore : Banned for 30 years. Passed uncut after 2004 with an M18 rating for violence.
-Sweden : Banned due to high gore violence and cruelty. Ban lifted in 2001.
-United Kingdom : After its initial British release, including a one-year theatrical run in London, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was initially banned on the advice of British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) Secretary Stephen Murphy, and subsequently by his successor, James Ferman. Due to the perceived degree of terrorisation of women and threat to defenceless women, three men are killed in quick fashion, but one woman is brutally slaughtered-hung on a meat hook and the surviving woman endures physical and mental torture. While the British ban was in force, the word "chainsaw" itself was barred from movie titles, forcing imitators to rename their films. In 1998, despite the BBFC ban, Camden London Borough Council granted the film a licence. The following year the BBFC passed The Texas Chain Saw Massacre for release with an 18 certificate (indicating that it should not be seen or purchased by a person under 18), and it was broadcast a year later on Channel 4.

Zombie - Le Crépuscule des morts-vivants (1978)
Dawn of the Dead
1 h 59 min. Sortie : 11 mai 1983 (France). Action, Épouvante-Horreur
Film de George A. Romero
Erid4n a mis 10/10 et l'a mis dans ses coups de cœur.
Annotation :
1 h 53 min. Sortie : 4 juin 1937. Drame, Guerre

Le Corbeau (1943)
1 h 32 min. Sortie : 28 septembre 1943 (France). Drame, Policier
Film de Henri-Georges Clouzot
Erid4n a mis 10/10 et l'a mis dans ses coups de cœur.
Annotation :
-France : Banned from 1945 until 1947, because the film was produced under the Nazi regime with financial support too. It was also seen as a negative portrayal of French people and accused of harboring sympathies for the Vichy regime. After two years, however, the ban was lifted again.
Salò ou les 120 journées de Sodome (1975)
Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma
1 h 57 min. Sortie : 19 mai 1976 (France). Drame, Historique, Épouvante-Horreur
Film de Pier Paolo Pasolini
Erid4n a mis 10/10 et l'a mis dans ses coups de cœur.
Annotation :
-Australia : Pasolini's Salò was banned at the time of release. This ban was then reversed in 1993; the film was re-classified R18+ for a theatrical release. However, the ACB re-banned it in 1998 for "offensive cruelty with high impact".[7] It was then approved for DVD and Blu-ray (because its extra content gives it context) release in 2010, uncut.[8] It can only be shown in cinemas if the extra material is screened with it.
-Finland : Banned in 1976 for moral, mental health and appropriateness reasons. The banning renewed again in 1984 with the defined exception of two specific screenings by the Finnish Film Archive. Finally a law change in 2001 removed the ban.

-New Zealand : Banned on its initial release, but lifted after seventeen years.

Film de William Friedkin
Erid4n a mis 8/10 et l'a mis dans ses coups de cœur.
Annotation :
-Malaysia : Banned due to intense violence and cruelty.
-Singapore : Banned upon initial release, and subsequently rated M18 with cuts made to "a scene of a disfigured statue of the Virgin Mary, and a scene of possessed Regan MacNeil stabbing herself in the crotch with a crucifix while uttering “Jesus f**k you!”...[for] “films that denigrate any religious group” and “language that denigrates religion or is religiously profane”".
-United Kingdom : The theatrical version was passed, uncut, with an X rating, by the BBFC in 1974 and has always been able to be screened legally. The original home video of the film was released in 1979 and was not banned per se, but Warner decided not to submit the film for classification for a few years following the video nasties controversy (as they believed there was a high probability of an official ban) and the implementation of the Video Recordings Act 1984 in 1986. Adding to the BBFC's difficulties were reports of incidents of hysteria involving young women, which had led to concerns that the film might cause severe emotional problems, particularly among those who believed in reality of demonic possession. It was not until 1999 that the video was finally submitted and passed, uncut, with an 18 rating.

-Philippines : Banned due to extreme violence and gruesome images
-United Kingdom : Oliver Stone's violent satire on the media was first submitted to the British Board of Film Classification in 1994, against the backdrop of the controversy over the media effects that had built up in the wake of the murder of James Bulger in 1993. The version submitted to the BBFC had already been subjected to over three minutes of cuts by the MPAA (the American classification body) in order to obtain a more commercial R rating. Certification was delayed while the BBFC investigated claims that the film incited violence upon release in the U.S. The BBFC later gave the film an 18 certificate. The VHS release, also rated 18, was banned by Warner Bros. until 2001. This was in response to the Dunblane massacre, which occurred shortly after it passed uncut. In 2002 the full 'Director's Cut' version of the film, restoring the three minutes of cuts required in the U.S. in 1994, was submitted to the BBFC and classified uncut at 18, citing strong bloody violence and sexual violence.
