Des débuts sur-estimés, faisant clairement de l'épate, sous influences cocaïno-Altmano-Scorsesiennes. Los Angeles, sa police et sa San-Fernando Valley, une nette préférence pour les films en costumes, les lumières naturelles, les entrepreneurs, mais surtout les histoires d'amour. Deux fois Daniel Day Lewis, deux fois Joaquim Phoenix et tellement de fois Philip Seymour Hoffman et John C. Reilly. Soit la filmo de Paul Thomas Anderson, auteur que je n'aimais vraiment pas avant de changer radicalement d'avis grâce à Adam Sandler.
