Slightly better second part, with an attempt to tie the story to something more personal for B.Wayne, some nice voice acting (the highlight being of course Duhamel taking on his Two-Face voice), and way too much weird comic-booky things peppered on it. Still suffering from sanitation, it manages to be better than the first chapter thanks to small attempts at characters' psychology (wich is quite an achievement among animated adaptations of comics).
The animation seemed slightly better. (Maybe it was due to the action mainly concentrated in this bulk of the film?)
Some bad moves:
Weirdly, after the first half decided to rely on basic Batman knowledges, the second feels the need to reenact for the nth time his parents murder. How many time will this be filmed or animated before it's considered ingrained in basic subculture?
He's my friend.
― Batman, about Dent
Yet, despite the runtime allocated to tell this story, it never appeared as such. I don't mind having to take characters statement for truth if I don't get to see the moments talked about, but it would be better if it wasn't conflicting with what I saw: a polite work relationship.
Score: 6/10
Enjoyment: 3/5
Let's hope the post-credits bonus is a sign for the DCUAOM to finally stop exploiting Batman (and Superman) to the bone.
Overall:
A very basic, sanitized (and overlong) crime drama that could have been a nice albeit simple investigation/procedural played with Batman characters if it didn't fall that much into comicbook ridiculousness (that keeps clashing with the overly seriousness of this double DVD).
Probably a decent fan product, certainly a mediocre offering to others.
