«It's really bad acting...
You know what, John? I've seen Dangerous Liaisons fifty times. Minimum! You were... you were my sexual awakening.
... You are not gay, are you?» ― A "fan" to John Malkovich.
C'est très mal joué. Incroyable...
J'ai vu Les Liaisons dangereuses cinquante fois. Au moins ! C'est vous... c'est vous qui m'avez éveillée à la sexualité.
... Vous n'êtes pas gay, n'est-ce pas ?
A strange mix of theatre and opera, past and present, Don Giovanni (along "Figaro" and Cosi fan tutte) and Casanova, adapted for the big screen as an even more monstruous chimera thanks to the addition of conscientious (if somewhat bland) period cinema and "malkovichian" mise en abyme.
But the blend doesn't always go well.
With the charms of said John Malkovich, Mozart, period pieces and eccentricities combined.
Score: 4,5/10
Enjoyment: 4/5
Typically the kind of work people will condescend to as something "pretentious".
