VHS VF Manga-mania, DVD-rip vu sur YouTube.
A good tension-building prologue for Devilman.
This OAV succeeds in hooking you by establishing the starting point of the saga, helped by a revamped design still faithful to Nagai, fine drawings supporting those visuals and a perfect music score (the strongest element to me) except for the oddly kitsch track (almost "super-hero like") toward the end. The voices were sounded adequate.
It could have been a lot better if the direction was not so uninspired even compared to Nagai's own style (though, a scene during the first visit seemed pretty "Nagai-esque"). And a typical weakness of Nagai is preserved by the adaptation: situations made to get you but so improbable they lead to many obvious questions (that you are supposed to throw away).
Plaisir: 5/5 sans aucun doute.
Score: 8/10 Une introduction quasi-parfaite au manga.
