Synopsis : L'histoire se déroule dans un jeu vidéo futuriste. Grâce à un casque spécial, on plonge littéralement dans le jeu, un vaste MMO qui attire un grand nombre de joueurs. Parmi eux, il y a Tsukasa, un étrange individu qui se retrouve dans l'impossibilité de se déconnecter. Prisonnier du jeu, au centre d'une vague de catastrophes mystérieuse, il va devoir compter sur ses amis pour le sortir de là. .hack//SIGN fait partie d'un projet .hack (dot hack) réunissant divers média autour d'une même histoire.
