A futuristic revival of the series with slight humour, more action, more nudity but lacking in violence. Lots of cameo/guest-stars from other Nagai titles helped to make it a fun watch. The way it stops somewhere with no sense of conclusion whatsoever prevents it to elevate itself above manga or TV show who both had some sort of achievement thanks to the completed revenge. It's also pretty formulaic; following a pattern of 1monter per OAV and a mid-series revelation, despite being an OAV series.
Switching for a scifi world coming out of nowhere and too many action stills and move lines cry out the product's nature: a 90s "revival" OAV...

Very well drawn but rather still for OAVs thanks to the overuse of speed lines and cuts to simplify action scenes. (I remember reading in the 90s how TOEI was proud of the number of cellulo they were using per OAV... Ahahah !)
Never getting back the stylish nature of its predecessor, it seems bland despite the visual quality. It's also easy to see in the charadesign department: while his parents, especially Daiko, or Mr.Mazin-old look very Nagai, the young male descendant doesn't and blends more with the rest of the characters and environment (even more than the redesigned "blander" Honey).

At least, we get the classic song recycled... The english opening has its lyrics diverging way too much from the original with this super-hero theme but it's so catchy...*

Average but fun.

My first ever exposure to Honey, through its english opening on my EVA VHS, when I was younger. I always thought it looked interesting, now I regret not watching it at that age when it would have been more fun.
