Vu en salle (l'importation d'animation japonaise en est arrivée à ramener les choses les plus basiques au cinéma, c'est bien triste)
Another case of Toki wo kakeru Shôjo: "Let's adapt the book by remaking the story in modern time, giving it a technological twist, with someone near the original heroine."
And so, we get constant use of annoying tech like internet cellulars, social networks, etc.
Good point: they're nicely exploited, especially with the last turnabout.
Anyway, what do we have here:
Average cinema jap.animation with shortcuts, bland design, obviously digitally moved backgrounds, generic types of teenage characters (but that's the story's goal, like any Breakfast Club) and the usual "moral". Don't forget the mandatory pop song montage.
It's still somewhat fun. And despite how "anime dramatic" (and expected) it is, the heroes breaking point is a bit above the rest. The inclusion of a character between childhood and adulthood also helps to gulp the strongly childish taste of this adventure. Finally, the classic "heroic" final love declaration lacking the exped result added a light sense of satisfaction to the package.
Score: 5/10
