Vu sur ARTE, cycle "Le cinéma d'espionnage".
"Subjective realistic spy fiction" ?
An interesting concept film adapting a concept spy novel, wich commits entirely to it despite the risk of losing audience (one could indeed see no appeal in the restrictive concept itself). The realism, already delivered by the spies' cold "work dialogues" about their deshumanized subject, is strengthened by the form.
Sadly, the film stumbles in its last 20mn by abandoning itself to pure (amateur) psychological theories. Of course, this is part of the work the film describes painstakingly. But it is not only presented in fiction as the ultimate solution of the whole "game", it verifies itself entirely for the audience.
Score : 6/10
Enjoyment: 4/5
Clinical in a good way.
