«What place do you think this story of The Beatles is gonna have in the history of Western culture?
— Culture? It's not culture.
— What is it?
— It's a good laugh.»
A rather lovely feature-length documentary, thanks to the archive footage. One might become annoyed by how insistent it is in starting a song only for it to be cut off after a few seconds or buried under voiced commentaries.
The title delimits a period in time, but the film should also choose a subject: it talks about everything (like the "emergence of the international culture of adolescents"), thus nothing. I
Score: 6/10 (-2)
Enjoyment: 4/5
A disappointment for a full-length documentary from a known director.
