Vu sur RaiPlay.
A realistic (read "a dirty blood-soaked") take on the mythic version of Rome's founding, full of human growls. While it indulges itself a bit too easily in violent action to fill up the time, it also attempts to tell an interesting story slightly scratching at the clash of Power and Faith, through the image of Remo/Remus & Romolo/Remulus' fraternal duality (a pair whose brotherly bond is somewhat believable despite its thin characters). Though, Remo is very prompt to changes over the course of the film.
The use of an engineered proto-latin as language adds to the atmosphere. But comes a moment during those two hours where those characteristics and the pleasantly natural photography aren't sufficient to counterbalance the very limited story, dialogues and characters.

I came to watch a modern S&S and ended up seeing some italian bloody La Guerre du Feu (although this is a vastly different film).
Trying hard, it doesn't really convince but the attempt is surprising from Italia and welcomed.
