Des sortes de gros cloportes (Ligia exotica) sont visibles à grande quantité dans divers endroits du Big Shell. Ils peuvent même s'infiltrer dans notre inventaire et dévorer nos rations.
Il y a également un garde qui porte sur lui une ration moisie dans le Tanker. En la récupérant, Snake se fera poursuivre par une nuée de mouches.
