How painful it is to leave that book, the third that I have read from Deborah Levy and my favorite so far.
In "Real estate" (genius title) the writer tries to deal with the question of property, of houses we own, places we want to make ours, castles and mansions we dream about.
What do this dreams and their details say of us ? We again here follow Deborah in her different trips, from Paris to London and Greece (all beautifu places) : everywhere, she seems home, radiant and thankful, and she makes the most of every second.
This book made me ponder on that question : what is exactly being rich? And I've come to the conclusion that it is to be FREE, to WANDER around the earth with just a laptop, some friends to visit and share precious moments with, to live from your own art, to swim in the sea and to sleep in yellow silky sheets.
Deborah shows us that there is in fact a huge difference between being rich and living a rich life, and that's I think what she tries to pass to her readers.
I loved following her and her constant attention to minuscule details of her environment, her generosity towards the beauties of the world. I love her sincerity, the way she writes without any shallowness, depicting herself and others with honesty yet always tenderness. I also loved the way she inserts very inspiring quotes from her readings - Bachelard, Duras, Desnos....
I adore her enthusiastic look on the world, her plans (café "Girls and women"), her imagination, her relationship to words : the way she receives life around her and the way she tells it.
An epicurean book about desire, motion,, freedom, friends, women and writing that I found incredibly endearing, inspiring and touching : big up to Deborah Levy !

A entendre les différentes critiques - de Manuel Valls à Ali Baddou - concernant le dernier Houellebecq, on s'attend à lire un brûlot fasciste, commis à la solde du Front national. Après avoir...
