Vu sur Film4, restauration(?) vue sur ARTE.
A fantasy film set during the Spanish War, where you wonder about the reason behind the setting. (A potential will to do things in the way of older allegorical works even though everything here is at the surface and loud?) The ghost woven into the story ultimately serves only as a late tool and Noriega's character rapidly appears to be ridiculously angry and bad (a shame). Some other choices don't make much more sense either, even the title is curious.
What is left is an effective first part, its atmosphere, a bunch of moments and ideas, the lighting of several scenes (but not the orange filter), the decent look at children... and the seeds of the future Pan?
