Vu en salle en avant-première.

A pretty good direction, very good looking light & shadow play, a nice attempt to offer something else: a detective (comics) movie, intelligently opening on that aspect rather than on the title icone (which gets its own prologue right after, focused on the fear aspect for a change*).

But too simili-investigative (just look at how the criminal intrigue plays out, a simple "hand-me-the-answer" treasure hunt you've seen so many times everywhere), too much of an emblematic figures parade/guest starring (with the "evergreen" Bat-cat sexual tension, hoped here too but invisible), too much of a collection of disjointed scenes or pictures, too much randomly inserted "necessary" action scenes that look like nothing, too much like a TV pilot, too much Batman and not enough Wayne, a character spoiled by a too broody/Twilight Pattinson (when he was a good choice to fill the costume of a dashing Bruce Wayne) and by too magical of a transformation (I am Vengeance !, or the barely brought awakening of Wayne to his power as a rich man), too much "acting" from Dano (obviously very happy to get to show his face for one big scene), too ugly CGI in a too bloated last part.
(The main theme reminded me too much of Elfman's score, if it was constantly interrupted, but that's probably my imagination.)

And a rather dumb (although very much of its time) villain thing.

*Like so many tracks thrown in the film only to be forgotten or spoiled by a return on the safe comic book path.
