Which makes an interesting blend: how to deal with the unforgettable (unspeakable) Holocaust, whilst flowing along a XXIst-century young adult’s life? Quite an interesting take indeed, starting right away with this first voice, the narrator’s voice, jumping from Daft Punk to Coke to video games to sleepless nights to Auschwitz to horse races to Coke to Holocaust then Coke again. The voice is here, the interesting questions flow around, and some philosiphical ideas elegantly brought around (young writer, but philosophy student as well). Ingredients are there & definitely there, and we fly behind this silhouette trying-to-forget in some drifting night in Paris. What to do with your life, with more-than-heavy family stories, how to forget, what to really want, how to let things flow, how to forget, how to forget. Granted, the drifting mind might sometimes bring slightly scattered pages, and the sleepless dawn atmosphere might not be the only reason, granted. But a 1st novel from a 23-year old writer is certainly a promising news for good books to come.
